Description
So, finally got down to the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency test) comics. I got so much comic material out of this day, yet it was a generally terrible day. I was sick, and I spent the whole day traveling, taking a test and then basically beating myself up for stupid mistakes. It totally ruined my love of Japanese, and I'm so never doing it again. Oh, and I don't find out my score for 2 whole months. JOY.A few comments on each panel, which are only brief moments in time... (this isn't meant to be the funniest of comics, more of a bit of info on my test taking process and other things on that day)
Panel 1: The mass exodus from the train. It was just waves of foreigners, and it seemed to baffle the two Japanese people that were there. very funny ^_^
Panel 2: There were some GIANT foreigners. I mean, I'm not a shrimp or anything, but so many people TOWERED over me. It was kinda scary. It was a shock after being the tallest for so long to suddenly feeling tiny.
Panel 3: My entire train was full of Filipino people, most of them rather attractive men, who were all sitting on one another. Seriously, it seemed like a set up to a bad porno....
Panel 4: As we all trooped up to the college, we got stares from adults and kids from the windows of the college buildings. Since I doubt elementary school students should be on a college campus, I'd like to think that their parents brought them there to watch the giant foreigner parade.
Enjoy! Part 2 on Wednesday!
Enjoy!

I had the joy of taking it twice, once in Nagoya (failed by 3% that time) and once again in London the year after. Ugh if I took it now I'd fail SO hard and that was when the ranks were different.

Ha ha I know this isn't suppose to be that funny, but it is in a sort of weird way, I'm sorry , that sounds horrible to go through though and I hope you did amazing on your test regardless of the mistakes you said you made. I like it would be awkward but amazing to see that train full of Filipino people, woo bad porno scene XD

I'm suprised that those men are okay with sitting on one another. I'm sorry to hear that this test ruined your love for Japanese. And you're really not going to do this test again?

Chances are high that I won't take it again, it really ruined my enjoyment of studying. I also probably will never use it, if I'm just going to do art.

Not all of them were hot, but a large majority of them were.
Oh it was very much awkward. ^_^

I could see Japanese families making a day out of watching the foreigner parade. Bring a lunch, take pictures, the whole nine yards.

Ah man, I hope you had a better experience than I did. I had so much fun studying for it, but then I felt so disheartened that I haven't done any since T_T
Hehe, stay tuned for part 2, 3 and 4 ^_^

I didn't get to study for it as much as I had hoped so I'm not really sure how I did. But I'll get my results next month! What level did you take?
Ha ha. My experience was alright. There were so many guys from the Philipines! I swear I was the only white girl there, I got hit on so much. xD Overall the experience wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either.

I studied a lot, but I just didn't have time on the reading section and that really bummed me out. I took N3, and I don't get my results until next month either.
LOL I had a similar experience, though there were more white people there than I thought there'd be (and they were all giants)

Its amusing to read them. Gives me an idea of whats really there rather then whats in the manga/animes. Since I know allot of whats in anime/manga is wrong.

Thanks! Yeah, anime has truth in it, though it tends to be a bit over-exaggerated, but that's the problem with most stories, I find (they show only what they want to show, or how it looks to them). The best anime to watch, if you want a more accurate version of Japan, are the slice of life series, though those are mostly only about school kids.

True, I enjoy reading a number of slice of life stories. Your right some stories are over-exaggerated. Mostly so that they can keep the interest I guess. Good day to you Tria

You took another test? o_o What kind of material are on the test? Just like reading Japanese? Wait, that sounds really hard... Japanese seems confusing, the characters they have for sounds. Have you learned katakana along with the other characters? I don't even get the other characters. You don't have to explain it to me if you don't want to.
I hope you feel better~

No, this is the original test I took, but I only finally got around to posting about it ^_^ There are 3 sections: vocab and kanji, Reading and then Listening. It can be very confusing, but once you get the hang of it, it's not that bad. Yes, I learned all three alphabets, though kanji is kind of slow going as even Japanese people never learn all the kanji.
I'd love to answer any questions you have! That's why I make the comic, to give laughs and teach ^_^

Ah okay~ ^^ For a second I was like, you took another test? Wa? X3
My question is what are the differences between the three alphabets? Katakana is the easiest I think. Kanji has more, strokes? And the other one, it begins with an H right? I have no knowledge about it.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
TriaElf9 In reply to OKRedAnimeLover [2012-01-15 14:04:33 +0000 UTC]
Katakana has the fewest strokes, and is used for non-Japanese words. Hiragana was created originally to be women's writing, since women weren't allowed to write kanji. Kanji is base on the Chinese characters brought over from China. They have Japanese and Chinese pronunciations, and you just have to know when which is used. Hiragana is the easiest for me, but kanji makes reading REALLY fast, once you learn it.
