Description -Page 1-

Well, I'm finally uploading it. Let's see how this goes...

Contemplating turning this into an A3 sized print. <3 If only for myself.

The comic features Kandi the Cat and best bud, Pen-Pen, as well as having a few of small cameo's of other Deviant's fan characters along the way (with their permission of course).

I hope you guys enjoy it~
Much love!

Your welcome. BTW, how do you create your comic?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TricksyPixel In reply to WiiManStudio [2010-11-04 16:16:38 +0000 UTC]

I've been sketching the pages out on paper first, then scanning them into Photoshop to do the line-art and colours with my drawing tablet. Normally I don't do my line-art on computer, 'cause it takes me so long, but I really wanted to get this comic looking as good as I can get it. ^^

WiiManStudio In reply to TricksyPixel [2010-11-04 16:20:49 +0000 UTC]

So I was suppose to sketch the comic first? But how with all this layering?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TricksyPixel In reply to WiiManStudio [2010-11-04 16:26:20 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, sketched with pencil n' paper first. I did a really light, quick sketch of the background too, but most of the detail in the background was added into it once I was colouring it on the computer.

I'm lucky I upgraded to a better computer recently... My old one definitely wouldn't have been able to handle all the layers I used for this.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

WiiManStudio In reply to TricksyPixel [2010-11-04 16:30:08 +0000 UTC]

Well, the thing about the detailing in PC is that I hate using the mouse/touch pads with a passion. They always go off grid randomly when slowly dragging and it's very unreliable to me. Touch screen is the only thing I'm most comfortable using and it's much more accurate. Plus, some of my programs react oddly sometimes. That's why I desire an iPad as my first tablet for creating digital artwork.

But about the panels, do you sketch that as well?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TricksyPixel In reply to WiiManStudio [2010-11-04 17:18:08 +0000 UTC]

I use a Wacom Bamboo Fun. They're cheap and work a charm. I used to get such a sore hand when I used a mouse. D=

The panels are sketched on paper as well, then on computer I use the rectangle tool to make it more accurate. Even though I use a ruler on paper when I do the sketch, I always seem to be a millimeter off. So the computer's real handy there.

Also, I add my speech bubbles on the computer too. That's the final step.

WiiManStudio In reply to TricksyPixel [2010-11-04 17:56:37 +0000 UTC]

Oh okay. But I never used the Bamboo tabs before. How do they work exactly?

Oh. Since I have a ruler, doing panels should be simple. But deciding the shape would take time.

I forgot about the rectangle tool like how to use it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TricksyPixel In reply to WiiManStudio [2010-11-04 18:06:30 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, sometimes I use a compass for rounded panels. That's always handy~

If you've got Photoshop, use the Marque Tool. It's the tool that lets you drag a rectangular selection box (the hotkey is M, I think), then drag your rectangle, make a layer for your panel outlines to go, then right click your selected rectangle and select "Stroke". Then it'll pop up with a window asking how many pixels thick you want the stroke to be. Enter the amount you want in and hit okay! Then you've got yourself a rectangle for your panel~

The Wacom Bamboo Fun comes with a pen that you can use on the tablet. It allows for pressure sensitivity, meaning that if you press hard, you'll get a thick line. If you press light, you'll get a thin line. It's really great for colouring with, I find. Good for doing line art too, but I'm very slow at getting the line as smooth as I'd like it to be.

I'd like to get a Wacom Intuos one day. They're very expensive, but when you plug them into your computer, the tablet basically turns into a little monitor that you can draw directly onto. Makes it much easier to be accurate. But the Bamboo's good enough, I guess.

WiiManStudio In reply to TricksyPixel [2010-11-04 21:03:29 +0000 UTC]

Oh okay.

I had no idea the Intuos had a monitor itself. I was going to get the iPad for visual drawing.

TricksyPixel In reply to WiiManStudio [2010-11-05 02:26:37 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I heard you can use the iPad as a tablet. I dunno if it already does, but it'd be great if it had a pen to use on the screen. I wouldn't be able to see past my fingers other wise. xD

I like the program "Colors", I think it's called. I have it for the Nintendo DS, but it's also avaliable for iphone/ipod touch. Probably for iPad too! <3

WiiManStudio In reply to TricksyPixel [2010-11-05 03:16:54 +0000 UTC]

iPad is a tablet computer itself. And there's a stylus for it (thank god) ^^

I have a few great art programs foe the iPad so when I get one, I'll be ready to practice. The programs are "ArtStudio", "Sketchbook Pro" by Autodesk and "Inspire" ^^ I also have "Brushes" for the iPod; which I used to create most of my already done iPod arts you'll see in my gallery. I'm hoping for a full mobile version of Photoshop; not that already released lite version.

What devices you have?

TricksyPixel In reply to WiiManStudio [2010-11-05 03:39:47 +0000 UTC]

Portable Photoshop would be great. Especially on a nice big screen like the iPad has.

I don't have an iPhone or Touch. My fiance has an iPhone though. ^^ He loves it. I was contemplating getting one, but I got bored with it and gave up on the idea. xD I still like it though, but I can always use his for the apps when ever I want, so I don't feel like spending money on one.

Maybe I should get an 8GB iTouch with cameras as a substitute while I try to wait for the next iPad
