Description
First background rendered in Bryce 5.5 I took advantage of the Bryce Jumpstart deal between DAZ and DA and started futzing. Having no idea what I was doing I rendered this background. Then I went to poser and rendered the tower, the hawk and the ship seperately. Placed them into the background using Photoshop. Added the lens flare, a depth of field with gaussian blur and rendered a lighting effect on the hawk. Used some brushes in photoshop to further texturize the ocean.
I worked hard on the composition of this piece so if you have any critiques to offer, please do.

Awesome work. really good.
Maybe you can reduce the depth of fields. In my opinion, it is to ... fuzzy back there.

thank you for your comment on my work, I do appreciate it! .
May I ask which part of back there you are refering to? The ship or the horizon? Both of which I blurred a bit to create a depth of field effect.

Mostly I thought about the ship...

I redid the ship. Think this is better? It did not detract as much from the hawk as I thought it would.

Great. That was my feeling too when I got to the end. Only thing is that if it were more in focus I think it might draw your attention away from the bird, but hey I'll give it a try. Thank you for your input!

Splendid!
I like the details in the background. The castle and the ship are really well placed.
Great job on the eagle as well.

the main exercise of this piece for me was placement as I've become more aware of composition. Rendering the elements separately was also a bit of a challenge with that because if the ship went too far to the left, it no longer looked like it was on the water for example. The tower and the hawk were much easier to place.
The hawk was pretty easy. He was the Content Paradise Red Tailed Hawk, part of the wildlife series that is on sale until March 31st. He came pretty much stock like that. I needed to pose him and turn the lights so that the lighting would be roughly the same. Funnily enough he's reversed in this image from how I rendered him.
