But lets brush our manes first, this bedmane drives me nuts...I dunno about you, but I had enough of tears. I only want to draw jokes and loves in the next couple of months. :3
Also, am I the only one who actually hates drawing hoofs more than drawing fingers? I spent at least half the time making this on adjusting their hoofs... and I still couldn't get it right. -.-

I'm not even going to bother, I'm just going with the written word. No artistic talent? Don't bother practicing when you could do something that you're already good at.

Thanks, but I'm not expecting to get too much out of it. I'm just going to get a cheap tablet so I'm not too committed, and pretty much mess around until I get motivated enough to get back to writing. Maybe make some cover art for the stories.

I do draw them actually, that's what her magic is all about after all.
It's somehow easier to me to just take a picture of my hand and copy what I see, than try to imagine a good shape for the hoof and spend long hours on trying to find out why it doesn't look good to me... :3

You got me there. I completely blanked out on that one. Still, I have a hard time understanding why you have such a hard time with their hooves. I'm starting to wonder what your process for putting together this comic is. My fuzzy memory's trying to tell me you've explained it before, but since I can't recall specifics... do you sketch out what you want first and then vector over it? If so, maybe you could try practicing drawing hooves using references you like until you're consistently happy with them

The thing is, I can't really sketch... My main problem is that I can't really visualize what I'm about to make. I usually work with references, but I had to improvise a lot on this page...(That's why it took so long.) Which means that I drew something, then modified it till it resembled to what I wanted to make, or completely scrapped it and started from the beginning... So the bottom line is, I always have references for fingers, but not always for hooves.

Actually, that's more or less what sketching is: drawing something (roughly), then modifying it until it looks how you want it to look. If that's what you did for this strip, then good job. The hooves look fine. Even better, folks seem to really like your rendition of bedmane (myself included).

By drawing, I meant putting down the anchor points and curve the lines till they seem to fit. By sketching I meant the old-school way: with a pencil and paper.

It's not as bad as it sounds though.
The bedmane was kinda fun to make after I got a hang of it, though still took quite a bit of time.
But the hooves... those bloody hooves... I'm sure I won't have much problem with them after I made them the hundredth time, but I'm still learning the ropes.

I love drawing hooves. It's weird how you can put gestures and expression into clearly immobile body parts, but it really works. I hate fingers, though. Also, bedmane is adorable.
