Description I'm passionate enough to speak out on few things, but this is one of them. If you don't like a certain piece of art, DON'T LOOK AT IT. If you report or otherwise try to take down or demean a piece of art because you personally don't approve of the subject matter, you're not an artist and you shouldn't be looking at things that artists do.

If you approve, here's this stamp for you. Feel free to use it anywhere you want.

In a way... that's true.

But if this applies to other arts, then this can't be right. For the most part, it shouldn't be censored... but sometimes, the art becomes very inappropriate. Now video games and TV is art, and some of these things I've seen and played is just wrong on many levels. The JP Tokyo Mew-Mew, um... this Square RPG that just escaped my mind, and some scenes in Sailor Moon S and Super S regarding Rini/Chibi-usa. I know cultural differences, but even regarding JP standards, it's just to ridiculous.

Okay, it's mostly just scripting... butwriting is art... right? Is Translation art as well?

This applies to any form of art, wether it be paintings, to television, to video games.

No... I don't think so.

Mostly yes, but not all. Some HAVE to be censored because it's wrong in many levels. Some scenes in Super S and/or S (Sailor Moon) regarding Rini is wrong... it regards the bathtub...

CrystaltheCool In reply to Tuxedo-Guy2 [2015-06-28 03:02:25 +0000 UTC]

Eh? What happened?

Tuxedo-Guy2 In reply to CrystaltheCool [2015-06-28 03:08:59 +0000 UTC]

Okay, not Super S... it's not wrong... well... maybe a bit. The Bathtub sequences with Rini and Serena did seem weird, but nothing weird happened... unless I'm blind... which I could be... or not.

but... Square-Enix's Bravery Default is the big one... some sequences with the young characters is wrong, and the localization process was most appropriate here. Skimpy clothing and innuendoes... on the under 18 age... is wrong... there is no way around that in international releases.

Yeah I don't like censored art either.People aren't stupid they can still tell what's going on so I really don't see the point of it.Plus it makes the art look really bad.I understand it's the DA rules so they have to cover it but if it's just nude then I don't see what's so wrong about it if they are not even doing anything. So I guess that's what cropping is for. I really like this stamp so I am going to favorite it thank you for making it!<3

i do agree on this. if someone is so sensative over a little skin in a professionally shot photograph then they shouldn't even be on an art site, because that indeed is ART. if someone draws the female body with elegance and beauty or the male body with feirce and carismatic features, that too is considered art.

i mostly agree a website like DA shouldn't have a censor, if i don't like something i can always skip it. for me the only exceptions for it are "triggering" material. i wish DA had a more dynamic censoring system where you could change your settings to reflect exactly what you don't wish to see automatically.
also some of the censorship is ridiculous, you can curse on DA but you can't in a stamp without it ending up censored, makes no sense to me.

lamarurin In reply to TyFell [2011-08-07 19:02:29 +0000 UTC]

lol wow, old comment is old and I said that because even though some people consider porn art, for obvious reasons that sort of art is not allowed on this website. So I'm just wondering where the line should be drawn here on DA

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TyFell In reply to lamarurin [2011-08-07 19:07:06 +0000 UTC]

Well, this is an adult community. So,if a kid comes on here, they have been warned about the fact that there are things they may not want to see and they shouldn't be here if their under age. So,it shouldn't matter much.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

WickedNinja667 In reply to TyFell [2011-11-02 23:32:32 +0000 UTC]

I think the line should be drawn with the Mature Content tag. If a child comes on here and tries to view something inappropriate, that's on them. Any Deviant with half a mind, will place the appropriate mature content ratings on an upload, to prevent said children from viewing said material. Anything and everything contained within the Mature Content ratings, is an Adult Community. As for material outside of the ratings, it's an open and public world, and viewers young and old should approach the site with caution, as some deviants don't have the sense to rate their work accordingly.

Yes,but even if the things not truly bad, people will say it is.Take [link] for example. It's a great peice, not truly sexual at all,and people say it is.So tell me,how do you tell if things need a filter?Because different people think differently.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

WickedNinja667 In reply to TyFell [2011-11-03 20:17:10 +0000 UTC]

You're absolutely right. Gorgeous example, by the way. But just to silence the catholic parents out there who think any shown skin above the knees will get you sent to hell, I'd at least place the filter on genitals/breasts. The truth is, society has sped up significantly in the last few decades. Children are getting pregnant at 13, 12 year old girls are developing breasts, songs on mainstream radio are obviously about sex, without even watering it down for young listeners. My 7 year old sister sings Katy Perry's ET, without a care in the world. For anyone reading this that doesn't know that song, it's about Katy Perry's alien sex fantasies. There's another song that's outright talking about sex, no pulling punches, but I forgot what it's called. The media greatly affects it's viewers. I think that within the next few decades, censors on art and media will be unnecessary, since everywhere you look, even now, is bare skin, nudity, and suggestive themes. It will only get worse...

But obvious things like breasts and genitals, should at least be filtered, so you can't just get on here and BAM breasts in the homepage.
