ttimo — A Touch of Winter

Description It's amazing to walk in a cold winter morning.. everything is completely still and silent.. you can only see your warm breath rising a while like smoke and then fading away.. a couple of thin clouds are sailing across the sky and the sun is just about to rise above the horizon.. the first few rays are amazing.. ^^

Anyway, I'm sorry about the rather huge size of this one but I had to make some compromizes. First of all none of these shots would be good by themselves - the composition of the one on right isn't exactly outstanding and the two from left are just too simple. But.. I like the way they look together. Oh, and none of these is cropped so the original is really huge.

Some minor adjustments on all three in PS, including a slight saturation decrease.

Yup, nature's wonderland indeed.. I'm always amazed how fragile but yet so complex some ice crystals are. Thanks

this is really nice man.
really deserves more attention as well.
the three shots are so well done,...all consistent with one another with regards to
crop and especially focus.
and the subject matter is really interesting. appearing so delicate and fragil.
yet it's ice crystals. there seems to be an intriguing contradiction going on with
'how' i've described it versus 'what' i've described.
don't know if that's making any sense or not.
anyway,...i think i like the far left one the best. i don't know why. just do.

nice work.

Yeah, I think it makes sense.. atleast some.. hehe.. Anyway, thanks for sharing your thoughts holms, I appreciate it. I don't really need much more attention, tho, my friend's comments are enough for me. And besides as soon as some work reaches the daily favs the attention levels start to rise quite fast.. and not just for the utterly outstanding works. There are those too, of course, but it usually reflect's the artist's popularity rather than the quality of a one work. And besides popularity usually results in those "hey, that's cool" type of one liners - sad but true. But yeah, thanks again holms.

The first and last one are gorgeous--the middle one I could probably do without, if only to see the first and last together more readily. Or I wonder... if you took the first and third on the top row, had the middle stretch across them below in a shorter picture (since I'm sure you had a lot more pixels than I'm seeing!) ... and maybe put the words in the white of it? Hmm, it gives me creative ideas, always a good thing! I'm not in such a hurry for winter, not yet. I could live in autumn forever... but like the person above said, winter does seem to be "your season" for so many reasons. Autumn is definitely mine

Yes, that could be a good idea.. but unfortunately you do see all the pixels. Well, atleast the combination of them - all three photos are uncropped. Still, it's possible that it would work nevertheless. Maybe next time I'll ask you before submitting anything

hee hee, no need to ask me, silly I like them any way you submit them. I like how your photos make me feel creative, though, and make me consider " What would I do..." then compare my stuff to what is definitely more critical, "what would Timo do?"

Thanks, I guess You don't have to always like my works, though.. it gets a little pointless that way.. maybe I should submit something awful just to test you Well, I appreciate it nevertheless

I'd still um... like the youness of it? I would actually tell you if I didn't like something... you are just on a streak of good submissions (I think selective submitting is the term here!)

This is pure magic
especially the one on the right ... yet, I like the 3 together very much.
The colours are wonderfully wintery-like and I love your choice of typo (as always)

I was trying to choose some delicate font to match the still yet fragile atmosphere. I guess it worked ^^ Thanks for the comment and especially the fav

Hehe, thanks, I guess the far right was the most successful one then - just as I thought. I love mixing colors with grey tones.

the last frame of this is also my favorite by far, although all of them look great together. your ability to capture winter so successfully is amazing-keep it up! (makes me shiver to look at these pictures....)

i've always thought of winter as your season - that time of the year when you see and capture amazing images for all of us to enjoy. this piece seems to be a fitting prelude for more enchanting winterscapes to come.

good job man, and i look forward to more brilliant photography as winter draws near.

peace, my friend.

Thanks eli ^^ The winter is actually nearer than I'd ever have guessed - it's here... loads of beautiful snow everywhere. Anyway, I haven't heard from you for a long while.. I guess our timetables don't quite match because I have been busy with school and everything. I'll have to see if I could find some spare time for a little chat. Oh, and by the way I thought it would be best for me not to comment on your poem because the sophisticated vocabulary is still a little too much for me.. it looks like I still have a lot to learn

Thank you, I'm very glad you liked it. And thanks for sharing your thoughts as well.. that memory of yours sounds like a sweet one ^^ In my opinion that's what all of us should do - enjoy the beautiful things that come along winter and engourage others to do it as well. I mean how many of us really pick up that frozen leaf and wonder how lovely and unique it is?
