Part fourteen: Plot twist Part 14 - Ready for Return

Mufasa and Simba had made their journey back to the pridelands. The closer they came to the pridelands, the drier the land. Once they entered the pridelands, they noticed how all the plants had died. The soil beneath their paws was broken.

''We must head straight to pride rock..'' Mufasa whispered to Simba. Simba nodded.

''HEY!'' A loud voice from behind Mufasa and Simba yelled to them. Simba's breath stoked and looked over his shoulder. He saw two blue eyes, clear as the water this dry land so desperately needed. It was a lioness, probably from the pride. He didn't recognize her though. The lioness looked scared, but brave at the same time.

''What are you two rogues doing here?..'' She asked carefully. ''There's no food here, so you should leave. Nothing to find here.''

Mufasa smiled. ''Don't worry, Nala,'' he said friendly, as the eyes of Nala got bigger. ''We are not here for food..''

Nala froze. She recognized the voice of the old lion. ''This can't be true..'' she narrowed her eyes as she took a step closer. Was she that hungry that she was starting to hallucinate? ''Mufasa?..''

Mufasa nodded and turned his head to Simba. She apparently didn't recognize her best childhood friend.

''Nala?'' Simba turned around, and ran a few steps closer. ''It's you! Wow, how you have grown!''

Nala was flabbergasted. ''How is this possible? You both are alive? Where have you been all this time!?'' She ran up to Simba to stroke her head against his. Then she ran up to Mufasa and scans his face. It's really him. Then she laid her ears in her neck. ''We need you two so much..''

Mufasa coughs softly. ''We don't have time to catch up now.. We must find Scar and the lionesses. It is time to bring the circle of life back..''
