I have no problem with headscarf, if a religious person wants to wear one who am I to judge? How on earth does it affect me? It doesn't. Me complaining about someone wearing a headscarf because it has religious significance to them is like someone complaining that I wear sunglasses because I want to protect my eyes.Β
My only problem is governments that force woman to wear Muslim religious clothing and governments that ban the wearing of religious clothing.Β

Full ironic. In my place HK, there are so much of Indonesian Maids are wearing like the middle lady of your picture. That's fine, can being balance on modest and freedom for living. And it fashionable too! Just remember: be true, be you.

Yup, yup, yup! I wear hijab, but I don't like wearing abayas or jalabiyas. I live in Dubai and it gets WAAAYYY TOO HOT those kinds of clothes. I prefer jeans, they're light.
Just because you're wearing hijab doesn't mean you can't be comfortable while you're at it.

Very true. I read a debate where a lot of Muslim brothers were disgraced by the fact that in Dubai they were displaying Abbayas on a fashion show (it was not too flash and looked really sophisticated). I just said there is nothing wrong with a Sister wanting to look beautiful and feeling beautiful while being modest. Its not about pleasing people its about pleasing yourself while displaying your modesty.

you remind me that in some muslim society, even hijab is not enough. women must use burqa (and also not jeans)

Well yes, you basically can adapt this to any kind of hijab (; Or maybe even any kind of islamic opinion. There are always two extreme poles.

Yeah, the meaning or sense of the word "liberal" changes a lot if you are in Western Europe or in USA.
It always amuses me when Americans call liberals "leftist" and associate them with "socialists", while in Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Spain and so on, they are labelled : right wing and center-right wing, and are the rivals/"ennemies" of socialist parties...

Headscarves aren't necessarily fundamentalist. I personally find them to be a loathsome expression of patriarchal culture, but they're not terribly harmful the way a fundamentalist absolutist opinion is.

Ja, da hast du natΓΌrlich Recht. Am besten du richtest dich danach, was Allah, jallah wa ta'ala, von dir erwartet. "Jedem Menschen Recht getan, ist eine Kunst die niemand kann."

Agreed. I without much thought recently shared a pic off of Pakistani memes of some progressive Muslims in mixed female lead pray. A friend of mines and too people I am not friends with but know got a mad on's about it. Ironically through one of the later two is taking part in a interfaith week and going to the Sunday Mass at the local Cathedral. To me it seems to be condradicting that they are willing to take part in such but condemn people in the picture I shared. I supposed people like to condemn people when they know they can get away with it and put on a good show when they know they can't.
