Description Rather paradox: Deliverance through prohibition.
I've had this idea for a long time. Hope you understand and like it ^^

Edit:

I displaced the girl, because she looked very small before. She still do a bit, but I think now it's ok.

Believe me as a Catholic I know what it’s like to have people hate on me because of my religion. Everyone is like, “oh if only you didn’t pray then you would be free.” Well you and I may not see eye to eye on who is God but I’m sure we can agree on this. Those people are wrong. Believe in God IS freedom.

It's ironic because she's trying to free her from oppression by oppressing her. Unfortunately, this is fairly common in the world today; women have even have had their hijabs forcefully ripped off their heads. What's so messed up about it is that no one would dare do that to a nun or other woman wearing a head covering or a Jewish man so it's strictly Islamphobia. Police have even made women remove their covering in front of men because of security reasons, which I'd understand more if I thought they'd do the same with someone else but I feel like it's mostly discrimination against Muslim women (it might've been so ingrained they don't even realize they're doing it.) I can kind of understand why people wouldn't want women to cover their faces because of security purposes (I don't see many Muslim women who cover their whole face anyway where I live) but I don't understand what's wrong with a head covering. We live in a multi-cultural/multi-religious/multi-ethnic society and we need to learn how to deal with that.

because in other religons they dont wear hijabs but such as those people that you see removing hijabs from female muslims are really the main antagonist for the muslims im almost a muslim myself (because i feel a bit dark when i see believers fight over something)and arabian i didint wear a hijab since i was a little girl to present i realized that i was not intreasted but i was never forced to remove it.

It really depends on which person it is. I am a feminist, but I'd never dare to do this, as 9 out of 10 times, she is wearing a hijab out of her own will.

Do people realize that to take a woman's religious garments away from her in effort to "empower" her, is just as anti-feminist as anyone who may try to force her to wear such garments, if she doesn't want to?

Rock that headscarf girlfriend.

I'm not going to lie, I always thought that women wore those in t.v because their men didn't allow them to show their faces and would beat them if they did or something. Is it a fashion choice or something?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tuffix In reply to supershirley17 [2015-02-04 19:08:31 +0000 UTC]

Women wear it for different reasons. I am sure some of them do so as a fashion statement, however, I'd say most wear it for religious and some even for political reasons. But I am honest with you: In my whole life I never met a girl where I had the feelng that she had to wear it because her dad or husband told her to do so -  and I know a lot of Muslims women.

supershirley17 In reply to tuffix [2015-04-05 22:11:02 +0000 UTC]

Media why do you only tell me they're being beaten by their husbands and are being forced to wear it! I am confused though, it looks like before the 1980's being covered wasn't that big of a deal well according to youtube video a 100 years of Iran beauty anyways. Plus the book a Thousand splendid suns gives it a negative view. BTW I love your art. We were studying Islam in class and everything sounded so repressed, bitter and no freedom but after seeing your artwork I'm starting to change my mind.

I'm sure in certain places of the Middle East, women experience oppression (I'm most definitely not going to deny it) but women often wear it because they want to and often claim it's freeing. I've even read it's against Islam to force women wear it.

I don't think there is anything unreasonable about saying "Our house, our rules." If people didn't want to be part of a non-mask wearing culture then they shouldn't have immigrated to one. Just like I would not immigrate to a mask wearing culture unless I was prepared to wear a rape justifying mask.

One wonders why Allah, gave women faces and hair in the first place...

Svetoslawa In reply to EvilTrapZ [2019-09-21 13:18:26 +0000 UTC]

I can touch your comment by bare hands! What did you said there??? Something about "Our house, our rules?" Who told you that? Do you know that you must be tolerant? Only racistes and facistes say about their "rules"... You are one of them? Muslims came to Europe and now it is their home too, and they will do what they want here... More I can say: you'll do soon what they'll say. If you don't like it try to fight and kick them out from "your" home - if not, if you're too weak and too stupid to fight - just shut up!

One thing that always baffled me was this:

when someone sees a Catholic Nun or a married Orthodox Jewish woman covering their hair it's out of modesty so why does the hijab get so much heat when it's being worn for the exact same reason?

I posed this question to some fundie harassing the students at the university I go to-his mouth just opened and closed like a fish.
