I know, my point was that she's hiding behind a tree that would work with someone who actually sees the tree and not the person. Whereas Toph "sees" them both

I wonder... In an environment like woods, wouldn't she be able to sense air currents through the vibrations trees send back (so, fighting against an airbender in a forest would still be possible)? Maybe, that's a bit far-fetched. Still, she's the second best earthbender, and that's something!
