A clay sculpture of my favorite animal, the Alligator Snapping Turtle - Macrochelys temmincki. It's the largest turtle in North America, occasionally reaching weights of 250+ lbs. Painted with acrylics. Quite possibly my signature piece.Related content

Indeed - extreme detail is a hallmark of all my work. At least, my more modern work. This turtle was done probably five years ago, and my standards are much higher now. Still, I'm not entirely dissatisfied with it. It's much better than the one I did 8 years ago that I didn't even deign to post.
