Description
Two-whip Strange-lizard, 6-7 inches longSole representative of their genus, Novusaurus had forked tails and odd cheek wings. They ate only butterflies.
My personal favorite of my dear Flizard series. Here's some info on them:
First of all, the lizard designs are taken from the book World of Kong, from the remake of the King Kong movie by Peter Jackson. All are 2-d paintings, and I took them and made them 3-d. The descriptions are taken from the book, and are copyrighted by it, obviously. My Flizards are made of papier mache over a wire skeleton, with wood putty for small details. They are painted with tempera paint. All are life-sized - the maximum size it lists in the entry is the size I made them. Each one takes about 40 days to make, working a couple hours each day. I considered making some of my own original designs to sell, but I can't decide on a price.
The first one I made was Discus ora - [link] Freshman year I won first place in a school-wide student art show at my school with a few of the early ones, and they're only getting better. All are suspended by thin fishing line and can be hung. In fact, they hang from the ceiling tiles in my dorm room when I'm at school! There are about a dozen total. And remember, since each one takes about a month and a half to finish... that's a lot of work!

These are terrific! Are you using something like Celluclay or your own shredded paper for the mache.
Great paint jobs, too.

I figured it out all on my own through trial and error. I use a 50/50 mixture of water and Elmer's glue, and newspaper, in addition to the wood putty.

Cool. Have you tried Sculpey or Fimo? (polymer clay)

No. I'm dead broke right now, and have been for the past couple years, so I have to make do with homemade stuff. That + talent = stuff turning out pretty good nonetheless.

Certainly. You're doing great things with what you're using.

Thanks! I am planning on it. With this series finished up I'll be making some of my own design. They'll be more colorful and outrageous than these ones, I'm sure. I should have a few more done within the next year.

these are pretty neat! I like how you pulled these from some great references. It would be neat to see more from you! Maybe some more stylized pieces too? really exaggerate the grace of these creatures, curves, angles. These are fantastic! It would be cool to see you take this to a whole other level
