Description
Happy Holidays, all! I'll admit that this WASN'T the next pic I wanted to get done. However, it IS a pic I've been meaning to get off my plate for quite some time. And with Christmas and New Years upon us, it just felt like the time to pull the trigger on it. After all, this always felt like a Christmas/New Years-type scene in my mind. You know, redemption, rebirth, togetherness...all that fun stuff. ^_^For those who are wondering, this is loosely based on a scene I'm planning for late in my Spectacular Spider-Man fanfic series (which I'm STLL looking for co-writers for, so if you're at all interested or KNOW anyone who might be interested, my door is always open ^_^). But first, a little bit of background/spoilers, to put this picture in context. Throughout the course of my fics, Peter and Gwen find themselves slowly inching closer back together. But between finding out that Peter is Spider-Man, gaining Spider Powers of her own, after being experimented on by Miles Warren (who becomes the Jackal, after being exposed to the Globulin Green) and barely surviving an attack by Harry Osborn, as the new Green Goblin (and attack where her father, George Stacy, is crippled), Gwen reaches a breaking point. As such, she heads abroad and away from Peter, in the desperate hope that some soul searching will help her decide if a life with Spider-Man is really something she can handle. She tells no one where's she's going, save for Mary Jane.
However, months later, Peter has his mind swapped with Otto Octavius, who places his old body in a chemical-induced coma and proceeds to take Spider-Man's life for his own. So Mary Jane, sensing something is very wrong, contacts Gwen, telling her that she can't wait anymore and it's time for her to come home. Returning to New York, now as Spider-Woman, Gwen fights alongside Anti-Venom to defeat Octavius and restore Peter's mind to its rightful body. But when Anti-Venom leaves to return to California, Peter and Gwen are left behind to deal with the fallout of her leaving. In the ensuing discussion, Gwen reveals what prompted her to become Spider-Woman and how the resulting transformation has left her feeling more confident to return home.
Which brings us to the image in question. The basic image is Peter and Gwen finally reconciling, at the perfect time of year to do it, no less. This was more or less how I've wanted it to look for years. However, when I was asking for ideas for my 100,000-Hit Commemorative pic, came to me, with the same basic idea, only including Peter and Gwen being inadvertently spied upon by a character from another series Greg Weisman was very closely tied to (bonus points if you can guess who). I thought it was too good to pass up, so I gladly stole the idea (don't worry, he didn't mind). So we've got romance, a bit of humor and enough of a holiday theme to make it timely. ^_^
Oh, and yes, the background is a photograph. I'll admit, I got lazy and took a shortcut. I just didn't have the time (or the strength) to draw a background that detailed.
Well, that's all for now. Hope to like what you see. And I hope you enjoy whatever branch of the Holiday Season you end up celebrating. Peace be with you. ^_^

Yee! It was a great suggestion!
Really! Like what?

Yeah, it's a nice little aside, especially since Greg Weisman was closely tied, creatively, with both Gargoyles and SSM. Guess all those Shakespeare references in SSM make a bit more sense now. ^_^
Well, how about the latest Splatfest that just passed (again, Pearl making quite the impressive argument)...?
www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tkmp7J…
On top of that, a couple weeks back, I found myself in a Turf War session where EVERYBODY (and I mean EVERYBODY) except me and one other person...were SNIPERS. And I'm not talking those snipers out there who know how to be pro-active, either. I'm talking snipers who don't know how to do ANYTHING but play defense. So we've got six guys, all meeting in the center of the stage...doing NOTHING but trying to pick each other off. And NO ONE is covering any Turf but ME...and MAYBE one other person. So like, for an HOUR straight, my teams are winning match after match after match after match...because NOBODY is paying any attention to me...and I'm the ONLY guy doing anything! I mean, I basically had the entire stage to myself, to do with what I will. You honestly had to see it to believe it. It was THAT insane.
Oh, and this other thing happened. See, the Switch upgraded their system so that, if something really cool happened in one of your games, you can record the last 30 seconds of gameplay onto your system, edit the video as you like, then post it on Facebook and/or Twitter, if you like. So if you want to check out my Twitter feed here (which I opened up again), you'll see what I recently recorded. And I'm glad I did. If I didn't have evidence of this, no one would have believed it.
Hell, you'll see it and you STILL might not believe it.

Oh wow, that's true and awesome! Did the 2 series ever referenced each other?
"Which lousy gift would you rather get? Dumb socks or an ugly sweater?" Jesus she's not even taking a side anymore, she's roasting everyone
Holy S***! You should have took a video of that on your phone or something! That's actually awesome! Having to turf the stage by yourself and no worries is like heaven to me.
I bet all those Snipers were noobs at Splatoon anyways.
HOLY YOU ACTUALLY DID RECORD IT? S̶E̶N̶D̶ ̶N̶U̶D̶E̶S̶ .... I mean links please! Is your Twitter page on your bio?
No man, I believe you. I remember this one game I was in (It was in Bluefin Depot ), there was this whole opposite team not playing the turf and all they wanted to do was do a certain glitch where you have to jump on some wooden platforms and You'll get stuck or something? I don't know. They were stupid. They should have just tested that out in Private mode or something.

Not to my knowledge. I mean, they'd probably be free to, NOW, what with Disney and Marvel joined at the hip. But back then, yeah, it wasn't going to happen.
Well, she was just making the announcement. Although it was kind of tough to pick a side. The two characters on the T-Shirts just looked so miserable.
Well, some of these guys were at a pretty fair level, so they must have gotten SOMEWHERE. They just obviously had no idea what to do about the situation they were in. Meanwhile, I wasn't even thinking about recording that incident at the time. To be honest, I was too much in a state of disbelief to do anything but just ink Turf and laugh my head off. ^_^
Yes, the Twitter Feed is in my Main Gallery page. I also posted another quick video, recently. ^_^
Yeah, that does sound pretty stupid.

Oh, ok.
LOL SO TRUE! But still, Pearl's roasts gives me life now.
Lol, well I'm just glad you did.
Speaking of which, which video is it? The recent one or the second one? Because I ain't seeing any snipers on either of them.
It was dumb. I just wonder if people still do that on Splatoon now, because it happened like a year ago.

TuxedAaron In reply to TheRandomGirlXD [2017-12-29 15:30:22 +0000 UTC]
Well, like I said, the one main thing Gargoyles and SSM have in common is all the Shakespeare stuff (which, again, I suspect is mostly due to Greg Weisman's involvement).
Pearl makes some good arguments, you've got to give her that. ^_^
No, neither of the videos I posted were about the snipers. The most recent video I posted was with regards to a killer move I managed to pull off during a match, a few days ago. And the one before that, was in reference to the result of a match which, honestly, SHOULD have been impossible. I've watched it repeatedly and I STILL don't believe it happened.
Well, if people still do that, then they ARE pretty dumb. That's all I have to say about that.

Oh ok, but where's the sniper video then?
Exactly. It's hilarious though, you gotta be honest.

Actually, Pearl's kind of started to grow on me, over the last little while. Don't get me wrong, Marin'as still my favorite. But I kind of see Pearl as someone I'd like to give head pats to...like Callie.
Unfortunately, I never recorded any video of the sniper sessions. I was tempted to, but you're only able to record 30 seconds of video at a time, so it would have been nearly impossible to put it in any context, unless you called up the Map, a lot.
Hilarious if it's the OTHER team, maybe. Not so funny if it's your own.

Aww, that's cute. Maybe I still need more time to adjust to her looks.
R.I.P.
Omg don't get me started. One time I was in this match and all that anyone wanted to do was Woomy calls. I swear that was the most annoying match I've ever been in in Splatoon.

Maybe. She does have some silly mannerisms while interacting with Marina that help take some of the edge off.
Well, if I ever run into a situation like that again, I'll think more carefully about recording it.
I've had situations like that. And ones where teammates just run around in circles for some stupid reason?

Interesting is a word for it, to be sure.
Well, as fun as that would be, you can't ban people for playing stupid. However, one thing I discovered for Splatoon 2, is that in Ranked Battle, if you should happen to be defeated because one of your teammates kicked out, you actually don't lose points for that. The other thing is that you don't have one universal Rank for the entire Mode. There are now individual Ranks for each individual game (Rainmaker, Splat Zone, etc.).

TheRandomGirlXD In reply to TuxedAaron [2018-01-01 18:28:42 +0000 UTC]
Yee.
Oh thank god. Did they also fix the connection issue rank lose or not yet? Also, having ranks for different games are a good thing!
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
TuxedAaron In reply to TheRandomGirlXD [2018-01-02 02:57:11 +0000 UTC]
Well, I know I can count on one had, the number of times I've actually been disconnected from matches, so it seems to me they're working pretty diligently on the issue. But I've still lost teammates on a pretty regular basis. At least they've tweaked the Ranked Battles so that if you lose because you lost a team member, you don't get penalized for it. Your point total stays the same. I imagine the reverse isn't true if you're on the team that wins. After all, if a team member on the opposing side kicked out, that's hardly your fault, right?
As for having individual Ranks for all the different types of matches, I imagine that's primarily to increase the replay value.

TuxedAaron In reply to TheRandomGirlXD [2018-01-02 16:10:37 +0000 UTC]
That it is. Of course, if you lose simply because you were facing a better team or your teammates were just being idiots...THEN you're screwed.
Of course, I imagine that Salmon Run is very much the same way. After all, if you want to make any serious money off of that (as well as collect hefty bonuses), you have to be willing to put in the time. Working one or two shifts and then calling it a day, isn't going to cut it.

Huh...kind of reminds me of that line from Yahtzee's review of Final Fantasy XIII...
"Some people have told me that FF13 gets good about 20 hours in. You know that's not really a point in its favor, right? Stick your hand on a stove for 20 hours and, yeah, you'll probably stop feeling the pain, but you'll have done some serious damage to yourself."

TuxedAaron In reply to TheRandomGirlXD [2018-01-04 16:32:45 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, grinding is always a pain. I guess that's why sandbox games became such a successful formula. It never feels like a grind, because you're constantly finding something to do. It's like those James Woods scenes in Family Guy...

Well, I'm not into Don't Starve, but there are some others that I appreciate. Dragonball Xenoverse 2 has an almost sandbox quality to it, as well, in that you're almost always being called to do something.
