I tried to cover a couple of Photoshop basics while I was doing it so yeah...
Okay then...hope it helps someone and I'm sorry about the crappy tutorial. I wouldn't be surprised if you actually regressed in your abilities by reading it. If you need any help, just ask.

Try putting your scan above all of the layers and then setting it to 'multiply'.

Hey, I have a question... How fo you get the lines looking so clear and stright? Is there a certain brush or paper size setting to acheive this?

No, not that I know of. I do use a tablet though. I normally just use a 1px size brush if I'm working at actual size.

The lasso-the most basic tool in Photoshop and I never thought of using it.

hey nice tutorial!
i am...currently (for the past few months) trying to work out photoshop and its secrets to shading. most tutorials just say do this and that n ur done, but yours actually made me understand a little! (take that as a complitment, i dont ever understand anything)
so ill give it a try when i get on my comp that has photoshop

I'm glad that I can help. I remember the first time that I opened up Photoshop and then I didn't understand anything. I looked at tutorials and they said use this tool or that tool, but they wouldn't tell me which tool it was exactly.

Yeah, most tutorials don't really tell you how to use Photoshop as much as tell you the steps that the go through when they use it. I'm just glad that I'm a fast learner.

Do I use a tablet?
--Yes. This method of coloring is definitely easier with one (all coloring is actually) but I still can use my mouse from time to time when my hand gets sore. So, a tablet isn't required.
Do I have a lineart tutorial?
--No. Sorry, I never actually got around to making one.
