(I would like to first apologize for all the text, there's just so much I have to say!)

Well, after what seemed like an eternity, my alarm clock a.k.a "Project Baby" (ask The-Titan) is finally finished! roud:

This clock took me about three to four weeks to complete, though I took a week off to work on other projects, and I'm rather pleased of just how well it turned out. It was originally just going to tell the time, but as I worked on it, I kept adding more and more, thus the delay.

There are also few features that might not be visible at first glance, for example:

1. There is a different alarm sound for every day of the week.

2. The chime is hourly, so don't sit there wondering why it didn't go off when you pushed the button, okay?

3. To set the alarm, you have to push "set", then input the hours and minutes, then push "set" again to go back to real time.

4. You can cycle the Am and the Pm with the hours only. The minutes will not affect it. (I found that it made it easier to work with)

5. The alarm will end after the song has played through, it won't loop.

6. Also, you can turn off the alarm with the spacebar or enter keys, you don't have to turn the alarm off completely to stop the music.

7. This alarm will save your settings! That way when you open it again, all your precious changes will still be there. (as far as I know, this is the first flash alarm clock to do this. Please let me know if I'm wrong, okay? )

A big thank you goes out to my mother, without her pushing me to do my best, this project would have probably ended up like every other generic clock on the web. My father, for putting up with my staying up all night hogging the internet looking for tutorials and lessons. And especially my brother, he may not realize it, but he helped me out of so many of tight spots.

I would also like to express my thanks to everyone at the Flashers chatroom, especially FlameReaper, The-Titan, and VIPwnt for all the scripting advice and morale boosts.

And that's it! I hope you all like it!

this is an amazing clock
its actually really easy to this clock in its current format so that you can just turn it into a desktop background if you don't want to keep anything open
1)just right click download and save target as and name it alarm_clock
2)put this into a notepad file (just copy and paste)

<aram name="movie" value="alarm_clock.swf">

3)change both 550's and 400's into whatever suits your screen size
4)save as type "all files"
5)change encoding to "unicode"
6)save as alarm_clock.html
7)right click on your desktop and go to the desktop tab
8)click on browse
9)change "files of type" to HTML files
10)select alarm_clock

TADA!
and once again great clock and music

Thanks a lot. Glad ya like it.

I actually did try turning it into a desktop background when I was created it, but with all my efforts to try and turn it into a widget, I had forgotten about it.

Thanks for reminding me!

Thanks! I was actually thinking of making custom alarms for people, with their choice of music and maybe even style, but I'm not sure it would work that well. And yes, it took me about a month to code and design it. (one week was spent recuperating)

Age2003 [2007-03-23 02:37:47 +0000 UTC]

lol the music's pretty bad I do really like what you've managed here. Definately a great piece of flash.

How long did it take you to complete?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Twin-Kamon In reply to Age2003 [2007-03-23 02:41:40 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I realized that a lot of people wouldn't like the music, but it's all I had at the time that wasn't copywrited.

And it took me about a month to complete, a week of it was spent trying to rewrite the script. (You may remember I was having trouble with the SharedObjects, until FlameReaper helped me)

Commgen [2007-02-14 09:37:48 +0000 UTC]

This is pure brill!
The coding must have done your nut!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Twin-Kamon In reply to Commgen [2007-02-14 14:22:21 +0000 UTC]

Glad you like it! I worked my brain to its limits on this one, that's for sure! I was actually going to use scripts from a bunch of tutorials I had (I'd never made a clock before), but I found them to be buggy and simple, so I made up my own. (with a bit of help from FlameReaper on the SharedObjects).
