This is actually part of a commission I'm working on. I turned the process of painting the background into a tutorial. The final image will be uploaded when I finished the piece but I'm still working on the character ^^
Sometimes it's hard to come up with a background that isn't so extremely time intensive that it nullifies the cost of the commission or you have to charge a high price for it. And this is one of those that has a nice outcome and doesn't take too much time, so it's not overwhelming. ^^
It's a simple tutorial with only 6 main steps. And very adaptable to different lighting and environments, you will just detail differently and choose different colors than I did here.
As always I used clip studio paint but you can do this in any digital painting program.
