The original picture was a commission I did for =MintFrappuccino so the character also belongs to her! The full size of the final pic is on my tumblr here [link]Hmmm this is just my take on simple cellshading. I don't know if I was clear enough in the instructions haha ;;; I think this tutorial is more for Intermediate Beginners LOL (if that makes any sense) cuz I didn't go into a lot of detail about some of the functions of the settings. Ummm anyways I really hope this will be able to help someone in some way HAHA////

What does Preserve Opacity in SAI do actually ??

hmm it's kind of difficult to explain but it's a really easy concept. say you drew a circle in the first layer and filled it, so you have a solid circle. now you make another layer and apply the 'preserve opacity' function to it. this means whatever you draw on your new layer will be confined to the solid circle in the layer below, you won't be able to draw outside of the circle. this is especially helpful when you've filled in all your base colors in your picture and during shading, you don't want to go out of the lines. ..... does this make sense? haha ;;

LMAO okok I hafta admit that usually my roughs look a little grosser than this
SAI definitely makes lines way sharper and cleaner, and just like... the way it understand pen pressure is a lot nicer than photoshop. It makes lineart really way nicer than the lineart I do in Photoshop, and it's really nice on blending colors too!
