Description
Hermes guides a procession of fellow Olympians down the Promenade of Asterion as part of a ceremony honoring the lives lost in the first wars against Lucifer and the demons thousands of years ago.ΒI've spent the last two weeks working on new characters, updating characters, altering storylines, and set creation...thus my absence from deviantart. This is an image I've had (more or less) in the idea stage for quite some time. I was working on a Hermes profile scene, but it just wasn't looking satisfactory at all. So I turned his profile into this scene from my project. The next scene (HOPEFULLY) will be the location where the Olympians celebrate the Veneration of the Fallen. The ceremony is one of the opening scenes of my 3rd Lucifer story when he is freed from Tartarus. The Veneration of the Fallen coincidentally takes place at the same time the demon civil war when Sammael attempts to stop Deimos and Mastema from freeing Lucifer: fav.me/dbuuzyc ,Β fav.me/dbwa5qb . Of course, Sammael fails and Lucifer is freed.
EDIT: I have no idea why I cannot get the thumb views to work but whatever...
Also, just in case anyone might be curious, though it's really not important, the characters are from left to right: Terpsichore, Hebe, Aniketos, Selene, Apollo, Artemis, Hermes, Euterpe, Helios, Alexiares, Pan, Calliope, Nike, and Heracles. Unfortuntely, the Muses Thalia, Urania, and Clio are not visible in the back, but they're in there.

Your crowd scenes are always astonishingly well done and this is no exception! Each person with his/her distinct appearance and expression is meticulously posed and placed within the composition and then the lighting completes the scene! Masterfully done!Β

Whenever I look at a crowded render like this I start wondering whether the artist 'cheats' like I do by layering several renders together or if he\she has done it in one go. I've been staring at this one for quite a long time and I still don't know heheh, great piece, very cinematic!

Definitely layer several renders together. No other way could I have accomplished this. I think my computer whimpered enough with just loading each scene. Thank you, sir.

Ah, thank you Juli. I didn't know about the core thing. Oh well. I'm not losing sleep over it, just wasted time at the moment.Β
There's really no need to memorize the characters. A few I've had sketched for many years, others I created within the last two weeks. I'm only focusing on the important ones, and most of these do not play a large role in the story. Only two in this image (Heracles and Hermes) play any significant role. Okay, Hermes does play a significant role in the overall story, but Heracles dies a very painful death when they go to stop Lucifer following his release from Tartartus.Β
And I'll gladly donate some of my patience, as long as someone donates me some of their free time. hahahaΒ

I simply love those group pictures you do! The interactions of the characters and the love put into the outfits. But also the thought you put into the culture and ceremonies.Β Β Β

Thank you, sir. I have a lot of respect and admiration for the Greek myths/ancient religions. Even though I adjust them to suit my needs, I still try to show them in a respectful manner.Β

I think it's a good rule, especially in this case, if you want to avoid worldbuilding to become a parody. Unfortunately, being respectful to other people is a rare commodity these days.
