Description Final Fantasy Fail, a weekly comic spoofing the Final Fantasy video game series. They are done for fun and aren't meant to be taken seriously. These are all quick works and more manga-esque than what I normally do so don't judge me based on them. Ideas for future comics are always welcome.

Another one from an old game. Final Fantasy IV this time. The map sprites in the game are different from the battle versions. However most characters manage keep what looks like the same clothes. Except Edge.

My party for my second half arsed attempt at Zeromus, Edge, Cecil, Kain, Rydia and Rosa. The purple face monster is something called a Wicked Mask. It was what turned up in the first random encounter when I booted up the emulator save to use as a reference.

They are annoying. because you can't use magic but you can use summons, They can't be reflected.

Only if they cast reflect on your party as well, then you can reflect flare and holy from your own, but still, having both party and enemy reflected is real disadvantage when healing ._.

They are indeed annoying. It's been a while since I played 4.

And then the Complete Collection added to the fail with Cecil. On the field, his model wears white and blue armor and has long hair. In battle, it's golden armor and short hair.

it's kinda noticeable in the original but not like Edge.

Again - you had to explain it in the description, which makes it suffer. I just mean you should try to explain the joke briefly in the comic strips - enough for the reader to get it. Just a friendly advice. :3

I never quite understood Random battles... i mean how do you sneaked up on by 7 IMPS? or even the Evil Masks... do they just pop up from the ground or fall from the sky?

Yeah, random battles are, well, random. And you can never manage to depopulate the area of monsters. No matter how many damn battles you get into.
Have you seen this animation explaining random battles in FFVII?: [link]

I was always thinking it depends on the random number of steps you make and if you load teh game the number is the same but when you change direction you can meet different enemies :3

I don't think direction has any effect. Encounters are based on the random number generator which can be reset by reloading the game or resetting the entire system. So as soon as you enter an area all encounters are already predetermined based on the RNG.

I know that I saved the game and went right, had fight, reloaded the game went left and had fight after the same number of steps but different enemies, so direction counts too. I used the emulator save to slot1 to test that

I'm not sure. I don't know much at all about RNGs but my guess is that the game is using a couple of number sets for encounters.

What about Cecil? Cecil is like... Black one minute and whit the next. especially in Dissidia! It's insanity!

Typthis In reply to Hafell [2010-05-16 21:51:58 +0000 UTC]

This is only relevent to FFIV. Cecil starts off as a dark knight but later gets transformed into a paladin. Hence the black/white shift. Besides, I haven't played Dissidia.
