Jonathan asked as the door opened and the Italian businessman slash underworld boss slash arms dealer slash art collector entered the room. He could have continued with that list for quite some time since Giacomo Fratelli fashioned himself a lot of things. Bottomline: He was a bloody crook with money.
"You never shut up, do you?"
"What can I say? I'm a very talkative person." Jonathan smirked. He strained against the cuffs which tied him to the chair but to no avail. This could get ugly and fast.
"You are a nuisance, that's what you are. An overly confident little cazzo who thinks he can come to my house and steal what is rightfully mine."
"You have a strange idea of property. You stole that artefact from the Museo Nazionale dell'Alto Medioevo thinking it would make a great addition to your private collection. If you had been open to negotiations as we asked for, we wouldn't have had to resort to such measures."
"My refusal to talk to you and your people should have been a clear sign."
"Just name your price. I don't have all night."
"Mister Harker." Giacomo raised his voice. He clearly lost patience. "Are you deaf?!"
Jonathan's eyes narrowed and a cruel smile danced over his face. "I don't know. Try begging for your life like the last time you had a run-in with Velkan and me."
The sound echoed through the bare basement as Giacomo slapped Jonathan hard. "You are going to regret those words before the night is over, Mister Harker. You are going to regret ever having set foot in my country. Mark my words."
Jonathan glared at him defiantly. He wouldn't back down, not to the likes of Giacomo Fratelli. He just hoped that Velkan was already on his way.
