Description
Does this need any words? I've seen the movie four times and loved it a bit more with every new time I saw it. I'm playing the game at the moment which is really good for a movie tie-in game though it lacks a bit of the soul of the movie. "The Bioluminescence of the Night" is one of my favorite tracks from the soundtrack along with "Becoming one of the People", "Jake's first flight" and "Gathering the Na'vi tribes for battle".Avatar is love
Worked on this for several days. Morphs not by me, can't take credit for this awesomeness, it can be found in the free section of renderosity.com. I don't own Avatar (sadly), this is just fanart and a tribute to one of the most amazing visual and emotional movies I've ever seen.
Dedicated to the love of my life!

blue people like cats... erm... yeah I'm a huge Avatar fanboy, I saw the movie in 3D four times. I don't know if the impact is the same if you see it first without the 3D but it sure is an awesome movie which doesn't have the most original storyline but so lovable characters. It really touches your emotions

Coolness! Totally awesome rendering! I LOVE Avatar! And I love the soundtrack as well!
I rented the Avatar PS3 game over Christmas break. I enjoyed playing the Na'vi side of the story very much. I went thru each stage and completed all of the little side missions they had.
After I completed the Na'vi part of the game, I decided to try playing on the side of the humans. The game wants you to kill Na'vi and all the animals of Pandora!!! I just couldn't do it! After seeing the movie and really connecting with the Na'vi as a fully realized people, I just don't see how the game developers would ask you to kill them as if they meant nothing. I didn't get very far in the human campaign before I had to take the game back. So I don't know if later in the game the human character changes their mind and helps the Na'vi or what.
I guess, when I played as the Na'vi, I did have to kill a lot of humans and I didn't seem to mind that... What does that say about me!?! lol
Oh, well, it is just a game after all. Have fun with it!

Naturally I sided with the Na'vi at once when it came to the decision though if you'd only know the game and not the movie you wouldn't have been equally connected to them I guess. The game lacks a bit in this department. At least at the beginning everything is a bit too quick. The attack on the village, the death of Dr. Harper (you didn't even get to know him like you did with *sobs* Grace)
For me the choice was clear and don't worry. I'm running around the tree tops with my bow (my favorite weapon) shooting all those RDA bastards and not minding it either. I wasn't even shocked when I recognized some of them were women... I guess I'm way too fond of Pandora and the Na'vi. So much that I'm even enjoying a straightforward shooter and, like you, roaming each stage for all the sector challenges, too *lol*
I must say I'm a bit reluctant to even try the human campaign, too. And if you ask me, if it really is all about killing the Na'vi and helping the RDA it is senseless and shouldn't not have been included in the game. I really hope the character changes his mind somewhere along the way but I'm really not sure. If not I think they shouldn't have added this possibility, it is against everything the movie is about.
Thank you so much I'm really proud of this one

I totally agree with you. The human campaign seems very much against what the movie is about. I'm curious if he does indeed change his mind. If you play thru as a human, you'll have to let me know how it turns out.
I did have a blast playing as the Na'vi. That was fun! The bow was cool and I liked his dual blade thingys.

I started the human campaign now, with a woman Until now I hate it, shooting the Na'vi sucks big time. It's against all I love about Avatar >.<
But I'm hoping that it will turn out into something else. After all there is Kendra around who likes the Na'vi and has a good heart and Falco and this other doctor are lying to the main character. There was this scene in which they tell her that they have found a way "to achieve lasting peace on the planet" which is obviously a lie. So I'll see how it turns out. But I think it is way more difficult since everything is out to kill you, even the plants. And I hate those shooter weapons the humans have, I miss the Na'vi close combat weapons ^^*

Ulysses3DArt In reply to Boy-Meets-Hero [2010-05-12 01:37:03 +0000 UTC]
The human campaign sucks... it really does. *lol* It is so much more difficult, a bunch of Na'vi kills you in no time and I kept asking for forgiveness when I killed them >.< And all those plants going haywire on you, geez The levels are quite beautiful though, not a single one with all this destruction you see in some of the Na'vi levels, only lush green forest, waterfalls and floating rocks
There are three different level and you kill Bay'damo... I guess I misspelled his name.. and Tan'Jala in them! You work together with those commanders you have to kill in the Plains of Goliath with the Na'vi, Batista, Winslow etc. And all they time they are joking about killing the "Blues".
You meet Harper and two other scientist which weren't even mentioned in the Na'vi story who all have gone rogue. And though you know it's wrong and Falco's mad the game gives you no choice but to kill their avatars and then their human selfs.
In the end even Quaritch shows up, that son of a b****. He ordered me to kill the Na'vi leaders in the Plains of Goliath, near the end of the game, but the first one of them really offered me to change sides. In the last level as a human you can actually change over to the Na'vi without becoming one and fighting alongside them. That's what I did, I just couldn't resist, suddenly it felt great again, running through the lines of the humans, shooting everything *lol*. The game also ends at the Well of Souls but I cannot say what happens when you stay with the humans. The game didn't save at that 2nd decision and the human side sucks too much to play it all again yet another time. The "Human turns to Na'vi in the end" ending is the same as the Na'vi one. The Well activates and destroys Falco's Dragon, killing him. And then... I laughed so hard... and then Tan'Jala, yes, the one you killed 3 levels before, just comes flying by on his Ikran and congratulates you on being such a good human, you talk to him like you knew him for sooo long. It was so poor. Did no one notice that? I mean please, that's really poor. I guess I will try to find the "Human stays with RDA all the way" ending on youtube, since I got the achievement for the RDA side either way and in post-game (I need one more Clean Sweep for a sector where I didn't finish all quests) the Na'vi are suddenly your enemies again. All a bit strange
But you get to ride all the vehicles as a human, even a Dragon ship. And you meet different enemies, the Hammerheads from the movie make an appearance.

Thank you for telling me what it's like. I still want to buy it someday, just to replay the Na'vi part of the game. I think I'll skip the human side of it. At least they let you change sides as a human in the end, so that's good. I really did like the Na'vi portion of the game. Their weapons were much more fun to use.
Thank you, Raffael!

That's the human ending. It's awful. And Grace congratulates him? That's absolute nonsense, she would hate such a thing! But funny that the human side actually has an endboss. I had hoped for getting to kill Falco with my Na'vi and it was a bit disappointing he died automatically. Still... this ending sucks.

I restarted the game a third time too, this time with a female Na'vi character, my human side chara was female, too. It's a bit weird to see a female signal specialist going all Rambo in the forest on solo missions given to her by hard boiled soldiers
I now have finished every side mission in all levels so there is little to do for me right now but as long as I don't have my "3D Dot Game Heroes" around I'll stay on Pandora... maybe with some visits to "Rune Factory Frontier" (from the Harvest Moon series) on the Wiii. I stopped that for Avatar.
Do you know 3D Dot Game Heroes? It's so awesome, a tribute to the classic 8bit Zelda games on the PS3 ^^ [link]

It's niche game which didn't get a lot of attention yet but it is so awesome and funny. A lot of tributes to Zelda, cool retro music and tons of humor. I can't wait to get it, I import it from UK. ^^ You can even create your character from scratch, completely on your own, it can be a dog, a princess, even a walking tank, your fantasy's the limit ^^
