There is a reason that travelling to the time of the Second World War is something even a race as mighty as the Time Lords like to avoid. A point so crucial to Human history its effects still ripple through the Web of Time for centuries to come.
"A tiny mistake and history changes into a 1000 Year Reich? Isn't that a tad of a cliché?"
Nate was soon to find out that it wasn't when he accidentally lost his Kindle in 1920s London, only for it to be found by one Cecelia Pollard, sister of the infamous Charlotte Pollard, companion of the Doctor and conduit of Anti-Time. The aformentioned Kindle, and its content, among them several history books, accompanied Cecelia to Munich where she became what some would call much too benevolently a sympathiser.
It's a Kindle, you might say, its battery will run out and that's it then. Happens faster than you'd like. However, not when a Time Lord like Galen has messed with it.
"Bah, primitive tech. You need something that'll use molecular-level solid-state circuitry for reliability, a crystal-filament memory matrix with a 12,000-terabyte storage capacity, and the ability to recharge automatically from any ambient energy source, like sunlight or heat. Give me half an hour in the workshop. And promise me you won't show it to Amazon."
And this Kindle ended up in Heinrich Himmler's hands. And Heinrich, fascinated and a true believer, dug into history and managed to convince Hitler to believe, too. Ironing out the mistakes yet to come Nazi Germany rose to what Hitler had envisioned it to be.
"This is as much on you as it is on me!" Nate had told Galen. A pointless argument, really, the damage had been done and it was severe.
Thrown off course by the ripples in the Time Vortex Galen's TARDIS crash-materialized in a future that was the Intergalactic Reich. To set history straight they needed to root out the source of the distortion. And avoid the CIA's (Celestial Intervention Agency, as nasty as Time Lords can get) grip while they were at it.

This is a commission by JezMiller that I came across today. Text up there also ©JezMiller. Look at the signature, as faint as it is, it's from 2015. I went at it with Photoshop (which I didn't have back then) and changed some stuff just for fun. Like making the wheel of the bike actually turn and changing Nate's expression slightly. One of these days I have to get around to recreating Nate (left) and Joel with Genesis 8. This is still Mike 4.
