Description With this picture I am closing the "Sannin and Team7" contest, that took plase at . Today we shall announce the winners.

Due to results of this poll - [link] most of my watchers wanted to see a picture of Tsunade and Sakura training. To my mind, their training was one of the most difficult, and in this picture I wanted to show why. This is Sakura's first death at the operating table. At first I planned to make a speech balloon at the top right, but in the end I have decided to leave it as it is now - you can think about what Tsunade says to Sakura by yourself.

You've captured this so well and it seems rather sad they never showed this kind of thing in the anime itself
But I love the colours and emotions here

They sure are alot alike. I'm guessing Tsunade is telling Sakura to prepare for the many more deaths that may come.

Oh my gosh. Β This is so depressing but true to the story. Β I wish little moments like this were added in the manga. Β Beautifully painted, too. Β Is this watercolor? Β

May I ask you something? Do you paint on some special kind of paper or it's just simple copy (xero) paper?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Umaken In reply to Kocia678 [2013-06-19 07:58:41 +0000 UTC]

Do, definitely not simple paper . It doesn't fit watercolour, because it is too thin and doesn't absorb water right.
Ther are many different types of watercolour paper, here is a good text about them - [link] .
Here I used cold-pressed medium-waight (about 250gr). Sometimes (like here - [link] ) I use hot-pressed paper.

Thanks for help and advice! I've recently started to paint with watercolour, but on simple paper. And I get pissed every time I paint because of its shitness (if I can say so ). I painted one picture on technical paper and it was kinda good, but still not THAT good. I think it's finally time to get some serious stuff
And, if can I ask, what kind of brushes do you use? I've heard about brushes made of nylon, but I haven't seen them yet. Do you know something about them?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Umaken In reply to Kocia678 [2013-06-19 16:01:32 +0000 UTC]

I don't use nylon for watercolour. I use only kolinsky sable. They are rather expensive, but mine serve me for more than 10 years. Squirrel is also good for watercolour painting.

This reminds me of a painting made by an Argentinian painter during the colera epidemy on the 20th century... it portrayed a group of doctors just arriving to a house to find a recently dead couple and their baby still clinging to his mother asking for food...

Basically, what I wanted to say is... you really portrayed on a really awesome way the emotion of such a tragic situation both from the perspective of a doctor who deals with death very day and eventually stops caring that much about it as well from the perspective of an outsider who is new to this kind of situations

This is a really good picture. I think it's better to leave it without any speech because it's more powerful. I'm a first aider and not too long ago someone died at my work from a sudden heart attack, despite the best efforts of myself and my workmates. It's a horrible feeling and I was left in shock, and when I was asked about it I didn't know what to say. Hence why I think this picture is at it's best without any words. Just my opinion though

You're welcome. When I first saw this picture I couldn't help but see myself in Sakura. The experience is something that will stay with me for the rest of my life, and I think that's partly why I can appreciate the emotions of this picture so much.

I started wondering, that in reality Tsunade-sama can save anyone from death, due to her mitotic regeneration technique which can be used to other persons too. Or byakugou. I just had to say that :'D Sorry for disturbing.

Umaken In reply to MakaiSamide [2012-04-29 13:36:11 +0000 UTC]

I have thought about it also.
I also have a question - when did she complete byakugou? Did she use something similar when she was saving Konoha sitizens from Pain's destruction?
