Description My tutorial on cat heads can be found here: [link]

When viewing a lot of Warriors groups, I noticed there were a lot of fans out there who are trying hard, but needed a few nudges in the right direction. That is why I created this tutorial.

Obviously, I am by no means an experienced pro, I just hope that this will help some people out. If this tutorial is received well, I will continue and do one on the body, and then perhaps a miscellaneous one for things such as expression.

Here are some tutorials on dA that I find helpful.

EDIT: THANK YOU FOR THE DD (JENNA AND GIGI)... WEH IM OVERWHELMED...

Thanks! I hadn't seen several points either in tutorials I looked at when just learning about cats and that was one of the big reasons I decided to make this.

Ca's have no chests whatsoever. That "protrusion" is their shoulders.

Uncognoscente In reply to eeveelution-lover [2011-08-22 02:52:41 +0000 UTC]

Oh dear, did I make an error? I'll have to go correct it later.

I am aware of this currently, however! When viewed from the front, cats have no chests, their front legs make that part of their bodies.

I am mildly disappointed. I thought the caption said "Car tutorial: Bodies". No help from this in drawing a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, then.

Nonetheless, I might want to draw a real cat one day and this looks like a good resource.

People who can draw really accurate cars are virtually art gods in my eyes. I'd probably just trace over a picture and hope it comes out alright...

Thanks!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SamBlob In reply to Uncognoscente [2011-08-22 03:00:42 +0000 UTC]

You're welcome.

Cars are really just a collection of basic shapes and perspective; I haven't used more than two-point perspective so far (but that might be my problem... )

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Uncognoscente In reply to SamBlob [2011-08-22 03:22:11 +0000 UTC]

Even two point perspective can help you a lot with certain angles on any drawing! (And the more you practice, the more you develop an innate sense of perspective as well.)

adailey In reply to ??? [2011-08-22 00:10:27 +0000 UTC]

Very informative! I don't like the "it's my style!" excuse many artists take, you can use all sorts of shapes, but proper anatomy will always rule out in the end. Thanks!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Uncognoscente In reply to adailey [2011-08-22 02:02:42 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! Yes, I'm of the opinion that you can stylize as much as you'd like and draw what you want to draw, but you must have some sort of base which allows you to identify when something looks wrong and fix it. Without that knowledge, it's going to take a long time to figure out how to make things look "right"!
