Description
My tutorial on cat heads can be found here: [link]When viewing a lot of Warriors groups, I noticed there were a lot of fans out there who are trying hard, but needed a few nudges in the right direction. That is why I created this tutorial.
Obviously, I am by no means an experienced pro, I just hope that this will help some people out. If this tutorial is received well, I will continue and do one on the body, and then perhaps a miscellaneous one for things such as expression.
Here are some tutorials on dA that I find helpful.

EDIT: THANK YOU FOR THE DD (JENNA AND GIGI)... WEH IM OVERWHELMED...

This is really helpful! I recently decided to take a break from drawing humans (the only subject I know how to draw) and started practicing drawing animals, starting with cats! I'm glad I came across this. Congratulations on earning the "Daily Deviation" award! You've truly earned it!

Very similar, but not quite! They do have some differences of their own, and there are plenty of great big cat tutorials on deviantART displaying these differences.

This is really helpful; I love it!
I've looked at this probably close to 5 times now to help me draw and now i really dont need any references anymore (At least for cats). I've read a lot of tutorials and studied them up.
Just one question though: What computer program did you use?

Thank you! I'm really glad to hear that it helped you learn feline construction well enough to draw off the top of your head!
I used Photoshop CS4 to create this tutorial!

Thank you, your explanations are very good. I have practiced postures for a while and I'm getting better. Now I want to move on to details, and I was hoping you could help me with that. Details, as in the way the cats fur grows, how you draw the eyes, how big they are, what shape, the details you draw to make a cat look REALISTIC, understand my point? =] I mean, you could very well draw a nicely shaped nose, but then, there's shading, there's a whole other lot of stuff you can do to make something look real.
I HAVE been looking at cat photos and such, but I seem to understand MUCH better when someone else draws it =] Thanks very much, great tutorial.
PS: If you wanted to know why I'm so determined in learning how to draw cats, I'm a writer, and I'm hoping to start some animating =]

Ah, thanks for the very informative comment, I'm glad to know you'd like to progress even further! Unfortunately, I'm not on deviantart terribly much any more, and find myself quite occupied with school, but perhaps I could send you detail help in small increments via noting? I don't recall ever attempting a photorealistic drawing, but I think I may be able to help understand what needs to be done.
Regardless of what works for you, I hope your animation endeavours go splendidly!

Thanks for this!
I was trying to draw an anthro cat ref for a roleplay site, I kept messing up at the legs, eyes and paws trying to make them 'catlike' with a human structure.
This was more useful than staring at my cat for reference haha.

You're welcome! Haha, it always helps to have some sort of direction or information pertaining to your drawing subject instead of just looking at one and not knowing where to start!

Thank you so much for this very clear and beautiful tutorial !
Your explanations are helpful, and they force us to think about what we draw, their logic, and to look at details more than one of us sure have missed.
We know what we are drawing and why !
