The latest episode added a whole new layer of insight into why Diamond Tiara was the way she was for the past five seasons. I think this pic does a good job of encapsulating what was really going on behind her haughty, bullying demeanor this whole time--and how miserable she felt because she couldn't see another way out.

Before this episode, I could never really like her character because I was bullied a lot when I was in Elementary/Middle School. But now that she has a justification for her actions (although nothing is a justification for being a bully but you get my point), she is a much more likable character.

Fun fact: diamonds are pretty tough. Their hardness is the highest from all minerals, they are resistant to acids or high temperature. But if you hit them at a right angle, they break easily, because they have crystal structure and very low flexibility.
So I think "Diamond" is most adequate name for Tiara.

I can't help but think of the hell she's going to catch at home for showing up her mother in public. She was in the right, and very brave to do what she did, but she's still got to go home and live with her, and controlling, narcissistic people can be pretty nasty when they're challenged (look at Trump), and a child can't escape it.

I have a kind of deja vu in that part of that episode. It reminds me of Gravity Falls in the Northwest Mansion Mystery episode, when I saw the other side of Pacifica. I just had that same feeling with Diamond.

this song made me feel so sad. I knew for years she had to have a horrible mom because her dad wasn't that stuck up and I was right. she was never a bad filly just shown the wrong way to behave. I am glad to see she's found a new light and will now be better shown for who she really is.

Looking at the writing process for FiM (Larson wrote the season 3 finale in November 2011 , 15 months before the episode aired, and the script for the season 4 premiere was locked in August 2012 , again 15 months before it aired), I'd say that's cutting things pretty close. Northwest Mansion Mystery aired 9 months ago in February, so unless this episode was written and fully produced in between then and now, which isn't likely given the numbers, then I wouldn't call it copying.

I'm glad I always knew she had to have a horrible mother. no one gets that bad with out a horrible influence. not upset with the similarities with gravity fall as they just used a trope that's been around for years too.
