Does this game work on a Macbook pro? Because I downloaded 0AD and then downloaded mod's archive mod. But it won't extract... I wonder if it's because it is a windows configuration than a MacBook Pro?
Please help me out?

From the guide:

Question, Is it possible to have units that are both melee and ranged?
Like the Conqueror units from Labrynna, will they be able to switch from melee to ranged combat by themselves like in dawn of war or will they need to have some sort of button to do that?
π: 0 β©: 1
UndyingNephalim In reply to SnipeSmash [2018-07-04 01:15:03 +0000 UTC]
Yes it is, though at the moment it can only be done with a toggle, not automatically. Both the Ordonian Rangers and Conquerors will switch weapons.

The game kinda lags when I play, is this an issue with the engine or is it just my laptop?
Also, some form of code keeps poping up on the top of the screen from time to time. it keeps telling me that certain files are missing or not registered or something, is this normal?

I don't have any lag issues, as can probably be seen in my videos. I generally recommend higher end PC's for any modern RTS game though.
Those messages at the top of the screen are not normal, what files does it say are missing?

Various skills/techs of the heroes.

Hi! I also wanted to ask you if you're going to include Mipha, Sidon, Rivali and Teba (Kass to maybe) in Hyrule Conquest. Since Mipha and Sidon have more Lanayru Zora type of look according to your lore, if they appear will they be heroes? Will they appear in the Great Sea expansion? If at all? And wil Rivali, Kass and Teba (if any of them appear at all) will they be part of the Rito Clans or has you view on Ritos completely changed after BotW?Β
I'm asking since you already implemented Daruk, Urbosa and Riju in the Goron and Gerudo faction and I was wondering if the other champions would show up.
And Yunobo too, I forgot about him

According to the wiki, Sidon is gonna be a hero for New Hyrule. Apart from that, there has been no confirmation for the characters you mentioned. They will probably be included tho.

The Iron axes look like they are made of wood, or at least just very rusty. I get that Iron working during medieval times was not as good as it is now, but wouldn't that mean the axe heads would be black save for the sharpened edge?
Also, wouldn't it be a waste to have a massive that only trains a single unit that is exclusive to only Princess Zelda? Why not have it train all the leader exclusive units? Or (assuming experience leveling is still a thing) give it the capacity to train all the other military units but at a higher experience level in exchange for slower training speed and bigger cost?
BTW, why not make Link's Blood of Gustaf affect Soldiers rather than Infantry?
π: 0 β©: 1
UndyingNephalim In reply to SnipeSmash [2018-01-07 10:23:56 +0000 UTC]
Those axes are indeed pretty rusty.
By massive do you mean passive? I'm sort of confused about what you mean for Princess Zelda.Β
For Link's ability it's Melee Infantry because Soldiers is a really broad category that includes citizen-soldiers, archers, and even mages. A soldier is pretty much any unit that can fight.

SnipeSmash In reply to UndyingNephalim [2018-01-07 15:24:18 +0000 UTC]
This is so super embarrassing that I must mentally flagellate myself 'Empire of Man' style until you reply.I meant massive castle, but forgot to add the castle part. Super sorry for that...Β Β
So let my get this straight just to make sure I understand:
Soldier is a unit that is capable of fighting,
while Infantry is a unit dedicated to fighting.
I don't see how that determines why only infantry benefit. Besides, judging by the commas here it indicates that melee, infantry, and soldier are apparently separate categories, so proper coding should leave out non-melee units.
If his ability is magical in nature why does it only affect dedicated soldiers rather that everyone in his vicinity and not defend against other magic?
If it is purely symbolic and the troops are just much more inspired to fight on in his presence, why are properly trained infantry the only ones with their spirits raised by the last living descendant of the founder of their kingdom? A descendant who is doing his best, and apparently succeeding, in living up to his lineage?
This could make the playstyles between Link and Kazakk more distinct.
Link being "I will protect my people by standing by their side and show them that united they can weather the storm and triumph".
While Kazakk is more "I will protect my kingdom by riding out and crushing all those who rise against us before they reach our walls".

What I'm getting from this, is that the Hylians aren't exactly the "good guys" in this story...

Memefos In reply to Linkzilla [2017-12-31 10:26:20 +0000 UTC]
They are mostly the good guys, but have been blinded by arrogance.
Think of the Jedi Order from Star Wars Prequels.
π: 0 β©: 1
Linkzilla In reply to Memefos [2017-12-31 14:39:57 +0000 UTC]
That's exactly what I was thinking of while writing this.
As you can imagine, Star Wars has been in my cross-hairs as of late for...obvious reasons.
A re-examination of the prequels actually reveals a whole lot of information that, I feel was lost on most people during first viewings.
But as for the Hylians...it mostly comes in with the whole, "False Goddess Hylia," (being Zelda) running out the descendants of Gustave (being Link) and driving them into hiding...I mean, I imagine the Hylian backstory to be pretty corrupt in its own right, but this seems a bit blatant...Like maybe if instead of us being told that Hylia was a false goddess, we could discover that in-game itself...
Also, the idea that the Hylians only have a good relationship with the Gorons and the Zoras because there's literally nothing produced in those respective lands that the Hylians deem worth taking. It's a very realistic idea, and makes the Hylians come off as cold hearted Imperialists...

A kingdom's gotta do what a kingdom's gotta do.
There's plenty to gain by imperialism. You not only get to reap the resources (and sometimes natives) but also get to spread your own culture and religion.

Β‘Finally! After so many months another guide excerpt! And it was very much worth the wait.
I was never a big fan of the Kingdom of Hyrule back in the Medieval 2 excerpt, but this one has sparked my interest. The game has been upgraded and the guides too.
I love the dedicated lore, but my biggest observation it's towards the STYLE: It's much more visual and detailed, and the unit, building and research requirements are easier to follow.
So basically, those are not only very informative and interesting, but als AMAZING to look at.

I was wondering, knowing that Link isn't a "cavalry-type" hero, will we ever see him with Epona or will she even appear in Conquest at all? Maybe as a wink to the fans... Or do you have no plans involving her?Β
Question aside, I absolutely love what you're doing with the Zelda universe and how you create a complete and believable timeline with the elements of past Zelda games. Oh and are you really going to finish the current version of Hyrule T? I mean you always seemed miserable with this system... I do understand that some of your patrons would like one but seeing how medieval 2 isn't "mod-friendly", I'm afraid it would more of a chore to you than anything else...

I love this so much. I've been waiting for so long for these to come out. I have a question though, why are swords classified as only one damage type when, due to design, they can perform hacks, stabs, and bludgeoning, game limitations? The Ironclad Elites have a hack of 5 and pierce-15, so I'm guessing that means they add both types of damage to a single attack rather that switch from one to the other.
I can't wait to see Legion, Labrynna, and Ordona.

UndyingNephalim In reply to SnipeSmash [2018-01-07 10:16:18 +0000 UTC]
I think I'll probably rename the sword class to blade. There's quite a few goof ups in this guide that made it in despite the many times I proofread, including spears doing hack damage.

SnipeSmash In reply to UndyingNephalim [2018-01-07 16:05:54 +0000 UTC]
What would axes be then?
I'm no expert but I've done some studying in the subject from medieval enthusiasts on youtube. Axes are like swords in a way as they are versatile but in a different manner. Swords do not have the raw striking power of the axe, but require less energy to swing around as they are lighter, making them faster, and the cross guards protect the hand when the enemy's blade slides down. The axe is more tiring to use, but cheaper to make, can be used in cutting wood, and is easier to harm armored opponents with. The sword requires advanced training to slash and stab at the weak points while an axe can use its weight to crush the bones underneath
Lets not forget that the various designs of weaponry through history
Swords are prevalent throughout all history and cultures, but their designs set them apart. European longswords were designed the way they are for versatility. It can cut unarmored and lightly armored foes, and the design allows it to stab into the gaps between plate armor and visors or be held by the blade so as to strike the opponent with the pommel or crossguards. Where as a katana or scimitar are far better as slashing, but are ineffective at cutting european plate. The arabs often won by overwhelming numbers, keeping at a distance with cavalry archers, and the fact that the armor of the crusaders weren't as advanced as the knights we often portray in fiction
