Description ”And what might your name be?”

“Alexander.”

“Hmmm. So you can talk.”

“Y-yes, sir. I wanna go home to my mama!”

“Take him back! He can still talk!”

“Please, please! I don’t want to be a donkey! Let me outta here!”

QUIET! You boys have had your fun; now pay for it!”

I feel bad for those poor kids turned donkeys. I always wondered what happened to them. So far as we know, Pinocchio is the only one to really get away.

And Pinocchio was the primary focus, anyhow. All the same, you still wonder.

Some sequels are okay. I think "Bambi 2" was one of the best.

That's not a sequel. That's a midquel.

And I was pleasantly surprised about "Toy Story 2" and "Toy Story 3."

I planned to only watch part of "Toy Story 3," but I ended up staying for the whole thing.

Such a cute little guy. You did a good job capturing the fear and uncertainty in his eyes. Even as donkey, he still looks very human.

It's a shame we never saw him as a human or saw him change. I think that could have added even more emotional impact to the scene. Yes, we did see Lampy change and saw how much the change devastated him emotionally. In Lampy's case, I think the scary part of his change comes more his reaction to it rather then the actual change. I've found in real life, it's often people's (understandable) reactions to sad/scary things happening that often makes the situation all that much worse then what's happening. It just goes to show why all of these what do do signs say not to panic.

One can only imagine how Alexander reacted as he changed. Although, given he was calmer as a donkey, perhaps he reacted with confusion more then anything.

Back to the pic, I think Alexander doesn't understand why this has happened to him and the others. Even not understanding how or why this has happened, he probably has at least a basic idea of what being a donkey means and is scared half to death because he knows he's in big trouble. Much like the kid that did something wrong without understanding it was wrong, only for something serious to happen consequence wise, Alexander now realizes how much trouble he's in.

I do like the imagine that whoever bought him would treat him well and give him a good life as a donkey, maybe even to the point where Alexander would prefer to remain that way rather then be a boy again. The reality would likely not be so happy of course.

It does irk me how neither Jiminy nor Pinocchio said anything to anyone about what was going on. Maybe knowing that at least some of the donkeys out there used to be human (with at least some of their intelligence and human feelings and thoughts remaining) would do something to get people to treat them nicer.

It also irks me a bit how the Blue Fairy might want the boys to earn being human again if she could change them back. I mean, for most, they made a mistake in going to the island. Who among us hasn't made a foolish mistake during our childhood? Wouldn't it cruel to deny them the forms they were born with until they passed a test that someone with power decided was appropriate? I dunno, to me, it makes me glad we have a judicial system. If even a dictator has a right to his or her date in court (even if it's already known the verdict is guilty and it's a guaranteed death sentence), do the boys not have the same right?

As strange as it may sound, when I was younger and saw this scene, I always kind of envied the boys. I had no idea about the salt mines or other nasty labour stuff they'd have to do. I only saw the cool ears, tail and the idea of being free of human worry and obligation, getting to run naked and free (when nudity was fun but -not- in a sexual way) without a care in the world.

And Alexander does make a cute donkey. It's interesting how with his clothes still on, he still has a look that separates him from the other donkeys. Yet, with the others that lost their clothes (such as the one that came before Alexander), it's interesting how they look a lot different without them and really do seem more like donkeys, albeit confused and frightened ones.

unicorn-skydancer08 In reply to DisneyRocks1985 [2011-08-27 22:35:56 +0000 UTC]

It's not the only one, but it does stand out. It says that there was a deleted scene where Honest John and Gideon were arrested and hauled away to prison. And in a way, Monstro and Stromboli received their just rewards. Stromboli lost his big star, and Monstro lost his prey and took a nasty crash into the rocks at the same time. If that blow didn't kill him, it would definitely leave him with one heck of a headache.

Out of all the villains, I'd say it was the Coachman who got off scot-free.

That was apparently pretty good for a girl show. Beast Wars was a boy show through and through; hell, it even was the word war in the title. Yeah, Beast Wars was second to Batman: The Animated Series in quality of action and story.

But yeah, it did end it's first and second season with the main villain, Megatron, striking down the heroes.

The bad guys later get another spider-themed member, Blackarachnia; she proves to be much smarter than most of her insect or dino brethren. But by the end of the series, Tarantulas is destroyed by aliens, and Blackarachnia joins the Maximals to stop Megatron.
