Description
”And what might your name be?”“Alexander.”
“Hmmm. So you can talk.”
“Y-yes, sir. I wanna go home to my mama!”
“Take him back! He can still talk!”
“Please, please! I don’t want to be a donkey! Let me outta here!”
“QUIET! You boys have had your fun; now pay for it!”
I feel bad for those poor kids turned donkeys. I always wondered what happened to them. So far as we know, Pinocchio is the only one to really get away.

Makes you wonder if any of them ever made it.

I don't know about in the movie, but if I were in the position of a buyer at the market, I'd try to give the little donkey a good home, whether or not I was aware of their previous state.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the donkeys that hauled the wagon to Pleasure Island were boys at one time. In the original fairy tale, that was the case.

The fairy tales were quite grim in the early days.

Especially Pinocchio, since the author was apparently also a satirist, so everything has a darkly comic edge to it. I.e. the judge that Pinocchio complains to after he buries his gold has the puppet jailed for being an incurable idiot.

And of course, he only gets out because a holiday is declared. I think Collodi was going for a point there.

Oh, my GOSH. This is AMAZING work, Mel. As somebody else said, it's just like a still from the movie! You captured this part PERFECTLY, especially the fear and sadness in his eyes. Just... wow. O.o
As I said before, the horrible reality of the boys' fates always hits me the hardest right at the very end of the film. Not a happy ending for everybody. It almost makes 'When You Wish Upon a Star' seem like a cruel mockery. And what really angers me is that neither Pinoccho or Jiminy mention them again- I realize they had a LOT on their minds, but still. It would've been nice if Pinocchio had remembered them, and made a wish for them, like in my story. (Oh well, I guess I can only imagine they did get mentioned during their trek back home from PI. I also like the thought that Pinocchio and Jiminy made ammends, then.)

I thought you'd like this, since we're both mega-huge fans of that movie.
Yeah, like I said in my artist's comments, my heart goes out to those poor kids. Even if Pinocchio did make a wish for them, it would have been entirely up to them to make the change. Remember when Geppetto wished for Pinocchio to be a real boy; it was up to Pinocchio to make that wish a reality. And it's not like those boys became donkeys all at once; it took some time for them to make that transition. Likewise, it'll take some time to make the transition back to boyhood.

Yup, that's how it was in my story. The Blue Fairy promised him that they would be granted their humanity back, but they would have to earn it again.

I`m sorry I`m late on this- I didn`t find it until I searched Pinocchio. But you did a great job of drawing Alexander! He`s so adorable!

They`re so cute on him! You did such a great job on them. Though, whenever I draw him, I usually give him green eyes. But I must admit- blue looks better.

It's really quite easy. I just take one color and a lighter shade of that color and use what is called the "gradient tool". I highlight a certain section and select the "reflected gradient" option as I fill that area in. Once you try it a few times, it's a piece of cake.

I got Manga Studio for my laptop, which in it`s essence is like Photoshop. I`m waiting for a tablet, though. I`m not saying I`ll get one. But my uncle suggested getting if for me as a combined birthday/christmas present. (Since my birthday is only 1 week from Christmas).

Try the original novel for what really happened. Disney had to have their star character get away, but in the novel... he didn't get away.
