Description I messed around with Jetfire/Prime for a good half hour, trying to make him look better.
This is what I came up with.
I noticed there were 2 places on Jetfire's legs with pegs for attaching them to Prime's feet so I tried a few things and came up with this lower leg configuration. It makes it possible for him to bend his knees and have better poses instead of just standing there. The problem with better poses is that you can see the weirdness behind his lower legs more; the kibble and Jetfire leg parts.
Still, I think I like it better.
I also moved the shoulder armor (Jet front halves) forward to rest on his shoulders and set closer to his head.
I then drybrushed black on what was the back of Prime's feet which make the front of his ankle in this mode, and I drybrushed silver on the feet to match the overall look. The silver on the feet does not interfere with the look of Jetfire's robot mode since the 2 toes are only rear standing support for JF's bot mode.
Finally I split up the panels over Prime's head and made other adjustments so he'd look more like the movie.

Do you like this better than the way the instructions say to form the combo?
Take another look at the normal version and let me know what you think looks best.

Be careful with them when combining! I had to really work at it and it took a good bit of force. When I was taking them back apart from each other I broke the chest piece connector that snaps in the middle of Prime's chest.

I just recently got that figure myself and did the combo. And even though it's plainly obvious to you, it isn't your fault what so ever. The way they have the chest plate put together like that is simply retarded, it "Looks" cool at first but as you know also puts a great deal of stress on such a small peg.. They could have done a much better job on this figure, like having Jetfire dis-assemble and combine from seperate pieces like he should have in the movie. Overall great job on this figure, the difference you made looks much better than what the instructions tell you to do, and you do a mean paint job! I'll have to find out where you live and pay you to paint my figures like that XD

Gotta agree with everybody above, this looks much better! I hope to pick up a voyager prime, and attempt to make the jetfire armor out of a model kit. This is really good reference for me!

That's a great idea and could come out looking great. Do you plan on using magnets for that so the Jetfire parts are removable? I just got some magnets myself to try out on future customs.

I like this one much more, it looks more dynamic. The feet are also very great, much better than the original.

Can you still bend the knee???

With a little work, yes. In the standard (by instructions) combined mode you can't bend them though.

So basically , the combined mode only can do standing pose

Normally yes but if you work at it he can do a bit more. Especially in this alternate super mode.

Gotta say I like this one more, it looks less stiff, less like a "Hey lets have them combine" afterthought. And that in this combo you don't have parts of Jetfire unnecessarily sticking out way over Prime's head, the moving of the bits on the shoulders i think took care of that, makes it look better.

Funny you should say that, since the movie scene kinda seemed like an afterthought too.

"Hey, let's vivisect the old guy and wear him like a funny hat. While we're at it, can we turn Jazz into a little vest and slippers?"
