Description
Honestly, I was pretty upset when I got my MP Rodimus. His back parts didn't latch into place so it flopped down easily. The chest easily swung out of place. His knees and shin parts feel fragile. His hands are kind of feminine, and didn't hold his guns.
I'd seen the pics and seen pretty favorable reviews, so I was really disappointed, especially for over $200.
After some thinking, I decided to dremel and file at parts in his backpack so it fit together right, then file at the pegs so the latch worked. After that i applied a bit of superglue on the prongs that hold his chest in right (took a few layers) and his gun handle pegs. That fixed my biggest gripes, so then I went on to give him a few finishing touches to make him more like a damn $200 toy.
You may be able to see in the pics that after combining Hot rod and trailer for Rodimus alt mode, there are now a couple of little paint scrapes on the spoiler. Not a huge deal but not super cool either.
Other than that, I like him now. All 4 wheels touch the ground in car mode and the toy looks great in all modes.
I repainted the car interior using the movie for reference and detailed the matrix chamber for some final MP touches.

Hasbro/Takara seem to have a unique business model in that they can design "OK" toys, but then can afford to completely crap out on the quality control aspect of things, knowing full well us 80's kids will still pay whatever ludicrous sum they ask. The amount of time it took me to fix a relatively simple problem with my MP-10 Optimus Prime's chest not closing was ridiculous... And at $200-ish, you really shouldn't have to fix things yourself.

its really unfortunate how many people are having problems with this guy. especially when he costs 200!
i really hope they iron out the problems by the time he gets a hasbro release. regardless, he looks great with your touch ups!

I hear that if you take sandpaper and scrap the 2 slits of the trailer that the spoiler goes through, there should be enough clearance so that the spoiler won't get scratched. To get into those slits, you'll need to remove the pipes that surround it first.

Yeah I'll do that before I ever turn him back to an RV.
