At first it didn't seem like the pair would find anything at the end of the paw prints - Altan soon figuring out that they had been; and still were going in circles.
However, an unfamilar shape was indeed nearby and had been watching them; and took advantage of their confusion to sneak up behind them.
Hard-of-hearing Souci only turned around when he saw his friend's expression of horror.
