Rambling Introduction
Okay... Introductions... Introductions... I'm Nathaniel Dayton. Nate for short. I'm 18 years old and a senior in high school. I go to some 'last chance' place since I always got in fights and flunked a lot of my classes when I was younger and stupider. Now I'm trying, at least. Mom wants me to go to college, but I doubt that's going to happen. But it still doesn't hurt to try, you know? If I fail, at least I gave it my all and learned something along the way. I work in a car garage now - school being expensive and all that, I need the extra money. Cars are my passion. Honestly, I don't think I could get enough of them. I taught myself most of what I know about them. And I'm pretty damn good at fixing them up. Glad I'm getting paid for them, too.
I'm a human. Mostly, I think. I'm a bit different from 'normal' humans, but in Tellurium, that's normal. There's my past life who haunts me. Apparently, I wasn't complete when I was being born. This guy who oversees the multiverse - Drakonius - told me I would have been a miscarriage. But Aru was, like... half a soul or something? Anyway, apparently he kind of dove into my subconscious and gave me the life I needed to live. So we have two incomplete souls in one body, as he put it. It gets annoying sometimes, but what can you do? Aru's usefulness outweighs his annoyance. He's like a ghost, and can do ghostly things, like go through walls, absorb energy, and move objects. It's pretty freaking sweet. I don't know what happened to him when I died, though. He's not answering me and I don't feel him, either.
Personality/Quirks
People say I'm the stereotypical emo kid. I bet it all has to do with the hair and dark clothing. But I'm not emo in the least, I think. I have a pretty good hold on my temper and, while I may yell, I don't lose it often. Cody, my best friend, said that I go into a cold type of anger when I get pissed. He said he could see the icicles flying at one point. I also like to think that I'm loyal to my friends. I've got a lot of patience and can put up with shit. Usually, when I start to lose it, I start rubbing at my temples; idiots give me headaches.
One of my best qualities is that I'm able to keep cool in stressful situations. Things that would cause people to panic, I am able to stay calm. It's a methodical process, working through those things. All logic, no emotion. Write off something that has happened as actually happening, no matter how strange it may be. Don't question how or why. That's for later. Just realize that is has happened. Then go through the repercussions of the event and how you can fix it. Easy.
Though, like everyone, I've got a couple faults. I don't like meeting new people that much. Guess I'm not good at making new friends. Heh. There are times when I'm afraid what people will think of me, so I sometimes keep my mouth shut or back away from them. Ever since I came out of the closet, my manager at the shop has been badgering me about making gay porn for her. Ugh... I'm also fairly stubborn at times. I don't like doing things that don't have a clear path to a goal, and I don't like listening to people that annoy me, even if they may raise a good point. Half-baked plans are also a no-go with me. And when there has been someone who has wronged me multiple times in the past, I have trouble looking over that.
I also have a lot of trouble sleeping. It makes me grumpier and then I snap at people. When I don't get enough sleep, my sword skills get sloppy.
Interests/Motives
What I would want above all else is to be alive again. I mean - who wouldn't? I died at eighteen. By my stupid friend's stupidity - hell, she's not even my fucking friend! Who punches a fucking laser beam? By the Gods... Anyway, there's gotta be some way I can get back into the living world. Or at least in contact with my friends. Hell, I'd be happy to even run into Drakonius! But he's been avoiding me since Aru said to back off. Whaaaat a time, too. Geez. I'm pretty sure that someone in Hades can help. I mean, they're gods in their own rights. I don't know much about them, but I'm pretty sure I can get one to put me back in Tellurium. If I can figure out where the ferryman went, and get him back in business, they could give me life again. I mean, everything has a price. And I'm making them pay a HIGH one for this damn job.
Abilities/Skills
I can also teleport. It's a weird power, though! Really limited, but it's nice to have it at least. The best I can explain it is with momentum and direction. The faster I am moving, the farther I will teleport... as long as I have no specific place in mind So, I go farther if I'm running than if I'm walking. I've never teleported standing still and I don't want to try! I also teleport in the direction I'm facing. So I may be looking forward, moving backwards, and teleport forward. It only takes me a second to teleport. In my home universe, at least.
I can teleport to a location or to a person. The easiest is just going forward, followed by a location I can physically see. The third easiest is a location I can picture. Then it's a person I can see, and a person I can picture in my mind.
I call this teleportation move glitching. And it's not just because it sounds cool. When I glitch, I actually go to a different dimension. A dimension where I don't exist. At all. I kind of... glitch out of existence for a while. Time is really flexible, too. I pop into the dimension for as long as it would take me to get to where I wanted to go, but in my home dimension, I'm gone for only a second. Which is why it's so easy to teleport somewhere I can see. It's just a second gone, a second back. Well, easy as in the least mental strain. I'm only in that alternate dimension for a second or two if I see where I'm going. The farther the location is, the longer I'm in that alternate universe. Picturing places or things is what sticks me in those alternate places the longest, since I'm moving to those places at the same momentum that I was going when I glitched. I've died there, once or twice. The next thing I am aware of is being where I wanted to go. It's really freaky though. But that's glitching for you. Heh.
I'm also really good at swordplay! I have my weapon, my Switch Sword, on me at all times. I practically feel naked without it. It's a really useful thing, too. It's handle are those two rings, and they unfold and shit. The blade is made of different parts too. It can compact into this nice little bar that I tuck with my car tools. The sword isn't just for show. Because of Aru, and my great perseverance and tenacity, I became a damn good swordsman. I can fight close combat pretty awesomely. Far away, while I can fight, I'm not as good at it. Mainly because when you connect the sword to the chains in the bracer, you make these really sweeping arc motions and it's easy to read and dodge. Otherwise, I use it as a grappling hook thing... Heh.
History
I was born in Auspice. Pretty normal family. Mom, Dad, me. Only child and all that jazz. But Dad left for some reason when I was young. Classic case of younger, hotter mistress. I don't know where he is, but I hope he is burning. :'D So Mom had to pick up the slack and start working. But it wasn't enough. Mom didn't have the education to get a really good job. So we ended up moving to Tellurium. In a cheap-o apartment. But Mom works really hard, and all to make sure I've got a chance for a better future than her. She's the best parent ever. I got my "hobby job" in the car shop after a while. Around high school, late sophomore, early junior year.
Uh. Cody and Nicki got me into the Eternal Knight's gang when I was, like, 14. It sounds bad, but it really isn't. The leaders are kind of ironic and the whole thing is like a type of play. I mean - we don't go out and act on a stage or anything. It's more like... the leaders are making fun of something that took place long ago. Either making fun of it, or honoring it. They laugh so much, it's hard to tell what they're exactly thinking. But it's not a bad thing. We get together, brawl, then get drunk or something. Or hit the arcade or the beach.
But there's not much to what has happened to me in the past. It's the present that I'm worried about. And my future. I'm not going to be stuck in Hades forever. Screw that noise!
Manner of Death
And I died... in the STUPIDEST WAY EVER. UGH. I should have just LEFT HER THERE. By the GODS, Ekhart is a DUMB ASS. Punching a GOD DAMNED ENERGY BLAST. Okay... okay, breathe, Nate. I tried running to her to glitch us out of the blast zone. But I didn't get to her fast enough. And the rest... well... yeah.
Other
Despite Nate not freaking out a lot, he CAN panic. However, such a situation must be truly out of his control, and causing harm on him in that moment for him to loose it.
He is also good at small talk and starting small conversations. If they go on for too long, or the person proves uninteresting or annoying and not helpful, he may push to end it or leave.
Due to him glitching all over the multiverse and interacting with Drakonius and Aru every now and then, Nate has a good grip on how the multiverse should work and the theories behind it
ALSO. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES IS ANYONE ALLOWED TO KILL MY CHARACTER.

He sounds really interesting! Although, some of his personality quirks don't seem like they would belong to the same person: dressing the way he does while fixing cars, being gay, and all that. Are some of those side effects of having Aru in the same body? Like, some of his characteristics are Aru's, and some are Nate's, but because they share the same body the two clashing personalities blend are hard to distinguish between? I'm not going to lie, that would be something really awesome to see explored. ^^

Part of the way he dresses is due to living in Tellurium. That city makes very little sense. Hell, there are T-rexs tromping around in the audition xD
I made Tellurium so it could be open to a ton of possibilities and allow for a great deal of character variety. So Nate's just one of those kids who dresses strangely. xD The only thing that really links back to Aru clothing-wise are the bracers (because they use the same weapon) and the pockets in his flappy things because he likes to hold his extra tools in there xD
uuuh... Nate's also struggling a lot with his sexuality |D He's none too confident with it at this point in time, and relationship things are very difficult for him. It doesn't help that Aru met his wife when he was a child. xD No good advice from him Ahaha.
There are a few side effects from sharing a body. Nate has bouts of insomnia because Aru would have nightmares when he was alive. Nate likes tea, seafood, and is skilled at swordplay, like Aru. the clash usually comes if they are separated. While alive, Aru could drift away and go out on his own, kind of like a ghost leaving its place of haunting for a while. Though the farther away they are for each other, the weaker each get since they draw strength from each other. Once, Aru was exorcised from Nate, causing the boy to fall comatose until Aru was returned.
Personalitywise... they are each rather no-nonsense (Nate not as much as Aru) and they find that they sometimes share facial expressions. There have been moments when Nate's teenage immaturity has annoyed Aru, and Aru's code of honor has pissed off Nate more than once. |D
Though the emotions that they share are kind of due to proximity. You spend a lot of time around someone and some of their traits will rub off on you. I know I adapt typing quirks from my friends and stuff |D While they have one body, they are both, in essence, two individual people. |D
