Description
ThatΒ΄s right, Fanart O_ONo I haven't gone mad, I made this for my ex-girlfriend.
It's Katara's necklace from the Avatar series. I made it to complete her cosplay outfit.
Made from 2mm thick coper plate engraved by bashing it with a hamer and mini-screwdrivers. She provided the ribbon and she's the model too

It's very good. But, I have to ask since I never took metal shop. How do you make the pattern so precise with just a hammer and screwdrivers?

^^ thank you.
I never took any metal shop either, but I taped the 'coin' with masking tape, drew the lines on it, and then banged them in. the screwdriver is only 1,5 mm at the tip, so I can plot out the lines precisely according to the drawing ^^

My advice is, start easy. It's not as hard as it looks, but it's not something you do in between something. Take your time and look carefully before you swing that hammer.
(and if you have one, use an insulated hammer, so it doesn't bounce back off and onto it again creating an extra mark next to the one you wanted to make. you can see one in mine, above the top wave, under the middel whirl )

That is pretty. It looks really dark where you engraved it - Did you do anything to antique it, or that just how it came out?

well, she's been wearing it for 3 months now, so I guess it's just natural oxidation.
At any rate, the only thing I did after hamering is giving it a polish with Brasso copper-polish.
