Can I just point out the fact that Tali has an odd habit of standing on her toes?
In-game, she stands normally with her heels to the floor, but in the character selection screens for the first two games, she is forever standing on her toes. Anyone else ever notice this?
Also, Ashley is forever cursed by irony in my eyes. In the first game, she says that Shepard should be prepared to continue their mission without their alien allies if things fall through. But it turns out that Garrus and Tali are the ones who stay loyal and fight at Shepard's side against the Collectors. Liara helps, albeit from a distance as the Shadow Broker, but gets extra points for recovering Shepard's body.
What does Ashley do?
In essence, she just blames Cerberus, tells the Commander to go fuck themselves, and leaves. That is if she made it off of Virmire...

To be fair, she had trust issues due to what happened to her grandfather, and having your close friend/lover die in combat only to show up alive two years later kills a lot of trust

Even then, she responds the worst of the group. Garrus and Tali were both as shocked to see Shepard alive and with Cerberus, but were both willing to trust them enough to do what was right in the end. Tali had more reason than anyone to respond with anger and distrust because of the Quarians' history with Cerberus, but she never once accused Shepard of betraying everybody. She was just glad to have had her friend/crush back.

Garrus wasn't in the position to be picky about Shepard's current affiliation, and being in the medical lab for (what I'm assuming) a couple days after having half his face blown off would've given him enough time to hear Shepard out. Tali, on the other hand, was more concerned about Veetor's well-being, and also assumed that he was working to bring Cerberus down from the inside
Ashley, on the other hand, was lead to believe that Cerberus was behind the missing colonies and that Shepard was alive and working for them, and as I said, she has trust issues. Had Shepard been able to contact her prior to Horizon, I'm sure things would've been different. Also, she did send an email right after Horizon, apologizing for what she said, saying she doesn't know what to believe anymore, and that she wishes Shepard luck in their fight against the Collectors
I get that Ashley can be a bit....abrasive, but I honestly don't see that as a reason to dump so much hate on her. Especially since I've actually taken the time and effort to get her to open up
Hell, I didn't really even see her as a racist, there were legitimate reasons not to trust Garrus, Wrex and Liara; Garrus was a cowboy cop who doesn't listen to authority, Wrex was a mercenary working for the most powerful information broker in the galaxy, and Liara was the daughter of Saren's right hand woman
Don't get me wrong though, Tali's my absolute favorite girl and I always brought her along for my non-Engineer Shepards. It's just that Ashley's my favorite (non-DLC) human

Technically, yes, Kaiden does respond in a similar manner, though he is much tamer about it. But I like Kaiden for the same reason I like Jacob. They are both level-headed guys amidst a crew of mostly the opposite, which is something I can appreciate. Despite his disagreement with Shepard.
As for Ashley, I imagine she was meant to be the typical "strong soldier woman with a soft feminine side." but it never really convinced me to like her as much as the others. I do not pour my hatred on her, but she never gave me reason enough to believe her sincerity is stronger than the alien allies'.
If Wrex wanted money, he would have stayed a mercenary, not potentially handed over Fist's bounty for Shepard killing him first and joined the mission just to fight. If he had expected Shepard to turn on him at some point, he would have decidedly done it first on Virmire when the genophage cure was threatened. Or perhaps even if the Rachni queen is released. But for me, Wrex proves his sincerity when he agrees to destroy the cure for the sake of stopping Saren. (That is if he was talked down instead of shot down.)
Before Noveria, Liara admittedly gives little actual reason to trust her, but she proves her sincerity when she is willing to fight her own mother.
Garrus is an effective toss-up because he can be influenced by Shepard's guidance. I suppose there is no "deciding point" in the first game for Garrus to prove his sincerity, but he never gave me the impression that I should be suspicious of his motives, either.
For me, Ashley's actions speak for themselves, and that includes Kaiden's by extension. Even after being given plenty of evidence that the Collectors were to blame for the abductions, she still refuses to help Shepard because she could not see past Cerberus. If your alien allies can temporarily work alongside a human-centric group for Shepard's benefit and for the sake of stopping the Collectors, then there is little reason she could not either.
I do not dislike any of the characters, but Ashley's curse of irony leaves a bitter taste that puts her near the bottom of my favorites. She can apologize through email if she wishes, but I will remember who stayed at Shepard's side during the suicide mission.

Actually there are some big differences in their reactions
Ashley acts as if you have personally betrayed her as she sees the universe in black and white and will not listen or consider what you are doing could be right. She does not consider that you are using Cerberus and does not believe it, she thinks you are loyal to them. And then carries this point through to ME3 where it's all she goes on about.
Meanwhile Kaiden is like 'Sheppard, so you are alive? You sure you can trust Cerberus? I think this is a bad idea. I can't get involved, I can't help. I'm sorry, I wish I could, but these people and the alliance needs me'

I don't really like it Ashley or Kaiden when it comes down to romance. thow i like in the citadel dlc at least shep can encourage Ashley and James Vega to hook up, which is the only reason she's alive in my femshep playthroughs.

I have a system going that depending on my Shepard's sex, I will kill the crewmate of the opposite. Though I do sometimes spare the ally of the opposite sex. It depends on my mood or even my current Shepard's personality.

1 her "i cant tell the aliens from the animals" comment which in my case happened in the volus and elcor ambassadors office
2 her "realist" belief that the other species will abandon humans the way she would abandon her dog which over the course of three games turns out to be a self fulfilling prophecy since humans constant back stabbing is why the council ends up not wanting to help earth

Still waiting for Andromeda quarians. I mean come on you can't have a game about space exploration and not include the nomadic race.
Also anyone else feel like it was pointless to move to a new galaxy then have all the same races and everything as the previous galaxy? Seems more like a flimsy excuse to not have to acknowledge the reaper war, than anything else.
