Description
LESSON # 1Here it is guys! Here is the first lesson I promised ya'll, written for the members of *PhotographersClub , and of course any one else who finds it helpful! (Lesson 2 hopefully coming out next month!)
This tutorial is meant to help you understand 2 of the most important mechanisms on your camera...the shutter and aperture.
Also, sorry its not written all serious like. After I wrote it I sent it off to =silber-englein for proofing, and she pointed out that my personality managed to shine through...what can I say? I'm untamable!
Credits listed in order as they appear in the tutorial:
(All pieces were deviations submitted to *PhotographersClub by our members! Also, I have received permission from each deviant to reproduce their images as a part of this tutorial.)
Aperture diagram from Wikipedia
Also, I think I caught all the typos

You should probably mention all your sources.
I know for a fact you took the aperture diagram from wikipedia.

Totally did. I should add that. There were some stock pictures of apertures here on dA but they weren't exactly what I was looking for.

I know what you mean. It's quite hard to find some stock photos.
Need any help in that photographers club?

Yeah, and I searched for like 2 hours. What I had in my head just couldn't be found, and I didn't have a way to make it.
Help like how? You wanna do a tutorial or something??

I think you forgot an aperture....f/128 [although very few go that small ] and you didn't show them a picture with a tiny aperture!
But very good for someone starting out

utqtbry In reply to MrMushroomMan [2008-07-20 23:10:23 +0000 UTC]
Yeah I focused mainly on the sizes a majority of cameras have. Like my slr doesn't go down to 128 so I didn't worry about it.
I know! I was trying to not completely freak everyone out, so I tried to give examples of the most common things I though people would be trying to accomplish. Does that sound like it makes sense? It was just so long already!

MrMushroomMan In reply to utqtbry [2008-07-20 23:18:35 +0000 UTC]
only a few older cameras go down to f/32, f/64, and f/128 and I really haven't seen it that much on newer ones either .....you're more likely to find them on large format cameras because of how much you can enlarge a print from one of those
It does but in subsequent tuts you'll have to explain that your light meter lies to you [link]
