Description
Brian Jacques' Redwall books are my escape reading and I love the characters. These aren't anybody in particular, but just an opportunity for me to draw most of the "good" species.Related content

Not in the Redwall universe anyway. They're pretty much always bad there; in fact, I don't think they even have any "conflicted" foxes in the stories, though they have some other animals that don't fit the normal stereotypes.

Hmm, good illustration of the different races that dwell in the walls of Redwall.
It looks like something that I would draw.
I've always liked Otters and Moles. Moles are like dwarves to me(heh, my favorite humanoid race), and otters are just plain full of personality.

This is really nice. I hadn't realized how tough it was to do the animals until I tried to do a picture of Lonna Bowstripe for my son. Well done!

I know... I forgot the hedgehog. I was disappointed in myself as well.
But I have Sollertree with Croikle here: [link]

A great picture! Very well drawn!
One other thing I love about it is how you have drawn all the different animals to scales I'd actually imagine them all to be, with respect to each other.

Jaques is always pretty clear on the size differences, though I've seen people ignore that totally
I tend to fudge a little on the really big and the really small critters compared to real size; it'd just be too hard for them to interact if they were too differently sized.

Yeah! That's a point!
If they were too differently sized, how could a mouse Abbot slap his badgermum friend on the back?

Ah, the show doesn't portray the books very well; it makes them into some kiddy stories. Blech.

But Slagar is voiced by Tim Curry! That alone makes them awesome! (Well, that and lines like "PORRIDGE? They defeated ME with PORRIDGE?") It's the Narm-charm, you see. Or maybe I'm just nostalgic 'cos Redwall's the first show I remember seeing. Meh. (But I wouldn't call them "Kiddy stories". Kiddy stories don't tend to have two your four main characters die.)

I've always been a little skeptical of the redwall books. Mainly just the writing style....but if you say they be good I may pick one up and start reading them perhaps. as soon as I finish plowing through the works of R.A Salvator..lol.

They're fun if you don't think too much about them, and if you can ignore the "good" and "evil" references.
Anymore, I mostly just buy them for the cover art

Lmao, i have a tendancy to do that as well..lol. I watched a few shows of redwall but found I couldnt get into it....perhaps thats why i avoided the books. i can handle the good an evil references..alot of salvators works have them as well.
