Description
in follow-up to my House of many ways doodles of Sophie and Twinkle, I asked you guys if I should read Castle in the air, the second book to the howl series, because I was a bit doubtful about reading it. But I did read it, and I actually liked it! even better than House of Many ways but no more than how I loved the first book. (I read the third book before the second)I just put Midnight and whippersnapper there for no reason, really. erm
I really liked how the second book showed more of Sophie's power of talking life into things where in the third book they did not. so it was nice.
and oh yes, Howl. Howl holds his son for the first time then calls him ugly. really Howl? really?
So yeah, thank you Dianna Wynne Jones!
Comments would be nice guys! share your thoughts about the series, the book, or just Howl!
P.S.
yeah, I discovered the books through Miyazaki's movie. so i've imagined Howl as how Miyazaki animated him. but a whole different personality tho.

I love that book! I'm so glad you drew Sophie as herself in the book with red hair! Though I always thought she was strawberry blonde, but this is awesome!!

I love these drawings! Is it okay to read the 3rd before the 2nd? I mean, will it make much of a difference? I'm half way through the third and I thought it was the second (stupid book cover says SEQUEL, that means 2nd to me) but I don't want to stop unless its going to mess up the plotlines for me

it's okay! Each book is pretty much a stand-alone book and it won't spoil anything from the previous book.
and thanks ^^

no it didn't mess me up at all. all three books could have been read as stand-alone books anyway. Although after reading it in chronological order did I get who some of the characters really were, or some of the references that the author snuck in. But other than that, not really
haha thanks

umm...basically the first half of the movie was true to the book, but then the second half trailed off completely. In the book, Howl did not turn into a monster/bird thing, there wasn't an actual war, Sophie was actually terrified of the scarecrow, Markl's name is Michael--He's a teenager in the book, the Witch of the waste really was the bad guy throughout the whole thing (and she's pretty in the book)and so on so on...
A lot of characters were removed too. And also in the book the black portal led to a different place than in the movie. And (probably the thing I love the most): Howl.
Howl in the movie is more of a hero, kind of noble and everything. In the book, Howl is an ultimate DRAMA KING. Like that one time that he just shouted for attention when he got a slight fever. And when his hair got dyed the wrong color (which they put nicely in the movie). and in his free time he courts girls and just puts his man charm on hklsahdfaskj
Even though will all these differences, the movie is still good in it's own way. The book though is just really charming and HELLA FUNNY. So I suggest reading it!
[long post. I just know the book by heart now that i'm reading it for the third time]

I really want to! So Sophie is a ging in the book?
What about Howl?

Howl...he's still blonde, but yeah he does change hair color a lot. After his hair got dyed the wrong color it became pink, later he changed it black for a funeral etc etc
But Calcifer did say "[...]A man with mud-colored hair[...]" So I guess that was his original hair color.

Aww Midnight and Whippersnapper! I just finished the book and I have to say that I was really taken by surprise in terms of all the people that had been turned into other things! (Although I did guess the Howl/genie connection at the last minute! ...How Howl must have hated that!
) I thoroughly enjoyed the book as well.
Simply lovely doodles!

Yes! Haha! I love how Howl can be so hilarious in any situation he's in XD and I love how in the book, it tells us how Sophie and Howl's life is in their happily ever after. (which isn't a very peaceful one XD )

I didn't manage to finish that anime. Do they really have a kid? And if so does he really say that?

well, in the anime no because that was loosely based on the first book. They had a kid in the second book.
