A few months ago, I posted a concept pic for a hypothetical Ben 10 spin-off that would have featured Gwen, Julie (with Ship), and Charmcaster forming a team of their own to fight the more magical enemies in the galaxy:Of course, that was all before Ben 10: Omniverse came out.
Oh well!Here's a slight follow-up that I made recently, which started off more as a style exercise since I haven't been doing as much with my more anime style in some time.

Recently, my group had a redesign contest, with alternate forms of the characters.

Omniverse ruined the expectatives of many people... but your work is great, and I think you should have finished your early sketch. You know, there are many Ben 10 alternate universes.

Alien Force ruined expectations too, and then Ultimate Alien ruined more. Omniverse is just doing what this franchise has always done, sadly.
Still doesn't make it not frustrating. Putting Gwen's new look aside, she barely appears. Julie only just recently appeared and is evidently not Ben's girlfriend anymore for no reason. And Charmcaster either won't show up ever or if she does will be right back a villain working with Hex and fighting with Gwen, even though her last UA appearance showed her ruling a realm and trying to become good and Gwen wanted to help her.
So yeah, I think this spinoff sounds better than Omniverse.

Actually Charmcaster did return in Omniverse and it was the most recent episode that aired yesterday.

While it's definitely not to everyone's tastes, I like Derrick Wyatt's take on characters, especially after seeing Transformers Animated. He likes to put in a lot of in-jokes when it comes to designs and there's quite a bit of fun in seeing those.
That said, I'm glad you like my take on the characters. I might have to redraw that first sketch-- it's not working with me for some reason. This one I'm actually preparing for coloring.

Yeah, but canΒ΄t say much about the Omniverse versions. ItΒ΄s sad to see the way Gwen is now - in my opinion she looked much prettier with long hair, and those clothes make her look like a 10 years old girl. And Kevin...
Anyway, IΒ΄m glad that you consider the idea of re-using this sketch.
