Description
I guess the title says it all ^^, but in case it doesn't, it's my first attempt at drawing a spaceship and the list of mistakes is so big that I don't even bother to post it.
P.S. Despite the fact that the drawing looks like... well let's say it's not my best work, I kinda like it.
Tools: Krita (which was lagging like hell), pentagram graphical tablet.
Time taken: aprox. 25200 seconds

I would also say, take a month to practice fundamentals. First practice perspective then volume. Second practice contour. In a month, you will see improvement.

What is the part on the side of the spaceship for?

It's a decontamination chamber, at least in theory.

Well, I've seen much worse, but if you want some constructive criticism:
Now it's really blocky and has not much depth to it. Generally the surface looks flat and clean.
The sharp edges and thin lines make it look like its only a very thin layer of sheetmetal (or even cardboard).
To give it some flesh, you can make bold frame-parts on transitions between features like windows, doors, etz. especially if they are close to edges, like the cockpit-windows.
You can use offsets on plains and thicker grooves between them, to give them some thickness.
You might like blocky looks, but it wouldn't hurt if some of the edges got beveled or rounded.
Some forms simply popping out might help too, for example the sctions of the exhaust.
Don't be shy to go overboard with bolder details.
And since you're using a tablet I assume you have a pen. So use it like a pen.
If possible, only use straight-line-tools for guidelines and maybe contour cleanup afterwards. Otherwise you won't get away from the blockyness.
I know it's more difficult to get a solid shape freehandedly, but the more complex the shape gets, the more a pain in the ass linetools become.
I suggest drawing basic boxes to place the main elements, and then go by hand.
Don't get frustrated over the time you put in, only regret not putting in more.
I'm actually very interested in seeing a revised version

Hi, thanks for the constructive criticism, I am currently working on a revision, well if you can call it that way, since I reused the basic shape ( and some other stuff ), but I'm not drawing a spaceship. Still I'll try to stick to the guidelines you've gave me , however I don't think I'll get them all in one go.
Oh, about the freehand drawing, it makes now sense why my sketch looked better than the finished drawing. ^^

To be fair, it's more creative than the spaceships I draw. I just draw retro stuff, with a bunch of circles and such.
