Description This is my first piece for the soon to be released online game called Zoovolution from the team at Web and Circus Gaming [link]

I'll be doing the 10, 50, 100, and 500 currency notes for the game (front and back sides). Each animal has a character name. The Bear is Montanna.

I'm excited about creating something cool for an online game. Stay tuned.

Mostly done in Illustrator CS3 and some Photoshop CS3.

Very neat stuff!

I'm interested in creating some currency for my micronation; do you have any tips for me?

Thanks! I use Adobe Illustrator to do most of the currency stuff. It's mostly just plain old pen tool stuff, art brushes, and blends for the patterns. Attention to detail and perseverance really pay off.

Ah, that makes sense. I haven't ever really experimented with illustrator before; I simply use Photoshop. Does it have advantages for vectoring?

I use both in a lot of my work but the vector tools in Illustrator are far superior and easier to use than the vector tools in Photoshop. For one Illustrator has blending tools where you can blend paths together. You can also use the appearance pallet to add multiple strokes to the same path with different effects. They are really apples and oranges though. The path tool in Photoshop is mainly for manipulating brush stokes. A lot of times I'll do most of the path work in Illustrator and then copy them to Photoshop and use the beveling and smart objects effects the Photoshop has to offer. Don't limit yourself to one tool.

First one is always the hardest one to get. I'm sure there will be many more to come

This is a direct result of someone seeing my Battlestar Galactica currency. So it really does pay to play around.

Awesome, Husker. That's really cool you're doing art for a game.

Thanks Nyx. I'm really excited about it. The project manager called me from Norway. I knew him from Illustrator World but was kind of dumbfounded. I'm a noob when it comes to pricing for freelance jobs but I trust the guy so I'm not worried about getting paid for the work. Looking at the bios of the team members makes me a little intimidated so I hope I can make some cool stuff for them.
