Description
I love making currency. I just really like all the patterns I can make in Illustrator so this idea popped into my head. I'm glad it did.(EDIT 1: I had to make some changes. First I got my mythology mixed up. It should be the Arrow of Apollo, not Athena. Second I changed a few of the fonts because I didn't have licenses for them.)
(EDIT 2: I updated the arrow art to reflect a more accurate version and some other minor tweaks.

Even after looking at it this long, I think to myself, "Dayum! that is pretty good."

What a classy design! I really like the selection of hues, and how they combine in the work overall.
I wonder, have you possibly thought of ever exhibiting at a scifi convention? I'd think that that kind of stylish work, on a good paperstock, could be pretty popular....

Thank you very much! As much as I like to exhibit these I do them more as fan art since I don't own the rights to the original concept or logos.

You forgot one thing: "This note is legal tender for all debts public and private"

Could I print this to use as drink tickets for a geek bellydance show in Chicago? I'll credit you on the programs. ([link] )

Sure I don't have a problem with that as long as you aren't printing a bunch of them to sell. Thanks for asking!

I LOVE currency artwork. (I have a high res scan of the 1896 $5 dollar Education US Note in my profile.) Your hypothetical note here is very well done. Excellent work.

But I thought that in the BSG universe there were no rectangles? More of rectangles with their corners chopped off, so they were more of a weird octagon.
So....therefore this must be counterfeit! Gasp!
Lol, just kidding.
It's perfect, looks very realistic...

Looks pretty realistic.
Watermark: check
Hologram security stripe: check
Prismatic printing: check (Look on back)
Red and blue fiber security paper: check
Serial numbers: check
Complex guilloche patterns: check
Yep all you need now is the resources to print them and you have a counterfeit proof banknote.

very interesting. I made a similar currency based on your work (but on a game rather than a tv-show). As creds for inspiration I added you name+link incase anyone wants to see where I got it from. But if you object i'll have it removed immediately.

It's not anywhere near as good as yours but I had fun doing mine

I really like it! I don't recall seeing paper money though.

The money in the show was different but they did use it while playing cards and a couple of other scenes including the one where Helo and Boomer rescue Baltar after earth is nuked. I just made a unique design I thought I'd like.

hi, sorry for my english.
I'm working in a project about currency, engravers, guilloches. Iยกd like to know wicht tutorial from computer arts you've tried. I work with Ps and Illustrator cs5 mac 0s and i couldn't find any plugin (free) or tutorial that could help me with this kind of stuff. I'd really apreciated any kind of help. Thanks, i'm a graphic designer from Argentina.

The halftone engraved tutorial is here: [link] but I ended up using a plugin for the engraved portraits called Cutline from Andromeda Software: [link]
As far as the artwork for the Battlestar Galactica currency front I didn't use any plugins. It's done with some custom brushes I made and simple blends and zig-zag effects in Adobe Illustrator. All of it except the battleship is hand drawn in Illustrator.

You are welcome. I would love to see how you turned the photo into an engraving. Where's that tutorial you were talking about?
