Description
Messing around with Candlejack and his girlfriend, Merlin and the possibilities of how they met, so my muse produced these random sketches. Random Halloween party and Jack feels like mingling. Merlin is dressed as 90's style Jean Grey from X-Men (she even dyed her hair velvet red to make the look more believable). She also happens to be able to relate to her favorite comic book character (Merlin loves comic books and cosplay) because she possesses the power of telekinesis/telepathy (Jean is kind of her hero).Everyone knows about the boogeyman Candlejack and she notices Jack, not realizing he's the real thing and assumes he's some dude dressed to look like him (This is the first person she's ever seen dressed up as the one and only Candlejack in a good while and wants to let him know she admires his 'costume'). She "says his name" because she never abides by the childhood warning to "never say his name". She calls out to him "Candlejack!" and Jack is like "Who, me?". (I forgot to mention that Jack is wearing a brocade coat with a hood that emulates the design in Assassin's Creed. He rather enjoys cosplaying too, so he occasionally indulges in dressing up and attending conventions for the fun of it).
Jack plays along with Merlin thinking he's just some average joe in a Candlejack outfit. At this point, Merlin has had a little too much to drink. They dance and talk (they get along very well and are having fun). After a time, the suspense is killing her and resolves to discover the face of this stranger and since they're already in close proximity, she tugs up the lower half of his mask.
Jack starts to pull away and Merlin respects his privacy and doesn't go further than exposing the lower half of his face. Then, without even thinking, Merlin boldly leans in to kiss the boogeyman's pale lips because she just "had this feeling" and ...well, Jack hasn't been kissed in a VERY long time and well he's .. he's a bit surprised to say the least.
Sorry. I had too much fun with this...
The center drawing of Jack with the angry face and smokey eyes was just sort of thrown in there as an after thought because, why t'feck not? There was a huge space that needed to be filled....
and so, I think this might be how they get started as an odd couple (still debating).
I'm beginning to enjoy the mask of Candlejack more and more so I figured that in my fanfic he wears it whenever (part-time) depending on his moods and certain situations (like when he wants to be ornery , scare people, be extra stealthy or more antisocial than usual )... It's part of his image when he wants to remind people that he IS and always will be the boogeyman with the creepy stitched smile. .
The title of this piece is inspired by Katy Perry's "I kissed a girl" because, why not?

Dude, so amazing!!!! I love them all, but my favorite is the bottom drawing. Even without seeing his face you can tell, he's pretty freaking surprised

intoxication makes everyone do things they wouldn't normally do and this certainly left an impression on them both. So much so in fact that it eventually draws them back to one another. Can never forget that one special kiss that made you melt, your toes curl, break out in goosebumps and a chill race down the length of your spine. It's been a long time since Jack ever allowed himself to fall in love with anyone. Too much tragedy and hardship has jaded him and Merlin senses that, which just makes her want to pursue him that much more. And well, who is Jack to deny her siren call to his heart?

God, I'm so very glad you like my 'mystery man beneath the mask'. I wish I could share the back story I've created for him and in some my older (terrible) drawings of him I have revealed certain parts of his personal information, one being that he's several hundred years old (his immortality is part of his mutation and in his former full-time role as the boogeyman, he's often confused for a wraith or lich (both being partially true), however he is in fact living (not undead) because he still requires food and sleep, etc. It's all very deep and intense, but I'd spend a lot of time taking your ear to cover everything he is, has done, and experienced.
