Description "I've had just about enough of you already," he said in a voice not his own.

Duncan paled. Something wasn't right here. That little voice that had been niggling at the back of his mind for the last hour was suddenly roaring in his ears that there was something oddly familiar about all this, something that he didn't particular want to remember. Unfortunately for him, he wouldn't have any say in the matter.

Dexter grinned like the chesire cat, seeing the dawning recognition in his brother's eyes. 'You remember who I am,' he thought. '…and now I'm going to remind you why you don't mess with me.' He released Duncan's fist and grabbed him with both hands by the collar of his shirt. "Say… I've got a GREAT idea. Wanna know what it is?"

Duncan gaped; dread made him speechless because he KNEW that voice, just not why it came from his brother of all people.

Dexter pulled him closer till their noses touched, all the while maintaining unblinking eye contact and shouted enthusiastically, "LETS WRASTLE WHILE SINGING I'M A TUGBOAT CALL ME MEL!"

"EEEEEN," Duncan shrieked.

"My word, Duncan, what has you in such a tizzy all the sudden," his mother asked.

...because reminded me that I didn't have any colored pictures of Dexter in my gallery. So, I felt that it was necessary to rectify that.

So there ya have it.

That moment when you realise your nerdy little brother is actually PG-13 if he was the Flash.

Prologue: "The Letter"
August 15, 2004

Dexter,
It’s been quite some time since your father and I have heard from you. We’ve tried several times to reach you on your home phone but you never seem to be there. We don’t know your cell phone number and we couldn’t find it in the phone book so we figured you had it privatized to keep the telemarketers at bay, which I certainly don’t blame you for. I’m not very good with computers or e-mail so I figured that good old fashioned postage mail is the only thing that seems to reach you successfully. It’s better than talking to an answering machine.
I hope your boss isn’t overworking you sweetie, you’re too young to be so stressed. You ought to let yourself take time to relax and enjoy life instead of having your face glued to a computer screen 24/7. It’s not healthy.
It’s just that Doug and I worry about you. After you graduated from High School you were in such a hurry to lea The illustration here is from chapter 2.

(grins sheepishly) Here I am, finally leaving a comment! Sorry it's taken so long, but I've been having a hard time figuring out what to say. Mostly because my initial reaction was to taken one look at it and go "Dammit, I knew I was making Dexter's hair too dark, gosh-darnit!".

This did not feel like a particularly appropriate responce, so I waited for a new one to show up. Then you mentioned that I still hadn't commented on something I basically asked for, and I realised that I'd better get my rear in gear. So.

The thing I initially noticed about this picture (other than Dexter's hair, that is) is the faces, and their expressions. I love all the emotion and vitality you're able to put into faces, and from so many different angles! (drawing figures from different points of view is something I've only really started doing in the oast few months with any real satisfaction in the results). I also just noticed that Dexter's tank top is red. Freakazoid red. This makes me inordinately happy, and it really shouldn't, because of course it's the natural selection for him to wear what with the themes of the story and so on, but the inordinate happiness still remains. (Seriously, don't ask me to go into all the layers of meaning the selection of various colours adds to various characters adds. I will talk your ear off with a smile on my face and a song in my heart. I've always loved colours and the meanings they can have, but I think it's reached a whole new level of obsession since I did that essay for one English class last year, which I will tell you about sometime if you're interested.)

Seriously, though, I was delighted to see this picture. There are two things I tend to go to your gallery to seek references for, and those are faces and colour selections. Bodies I can get references for anywhere, but you have a unique way of drawing the faces of the Freakazoid cast which I try to mimic at least in part in my fan art. Normally I'd try and mimic the cartoon itself, but I'm doing art for your fanfiction specifically, so mimicing your style makes more sense to me. The same goes for the colours of things like skin and hair and eyes. Thus, much happiness at having a new reference and seeing this wonderful scene in colour! ^^ Great job!

Glancing at the pic I didn't know who the characters were, but I knew I wanted to fav because it made me crack up because it's so expressive. That usually doesn't happen with character art for me. X3 Good job.

I've been using a lot of lines from the cartoon throughout the story to kind of show that the characters do stick to their habitual sayings.
