Description OK. It is my first tutorial.

I have acquaintances and friends who draw time to time and often ask me questions on the theme. They never studied in specialized art schools, haven’t spent time on studying dimension and form, but already want to draw portraits and their OC-s. ) But the problem is – when you do not know basics you can’t draw even the simple picture well.
I understand that there are million tutorials written about how to draw eye, hair, lips, half of an apple, the whole apple and so on. But there are still questions and the novice is often confused with so many tutorials, because it is important to understand the principle firstly and have basics, without it you can not ideally draw the eye, because you don’t know how to draw the ordinary sphere. Very often there is no knowledge of general basics that could help you to unite all trifles as one whole.

I think that the academic drawing is the basics to all. With it all the studying in every art school begins. I understand that there are many people who are not studying in specialized schools but they want to draw for themselves, for pleasure but they have problems. They have no time for studying all the rules and points of academic drawing year after year, but still they want to draw correctly. So personally for novices I wrote this tutorial. It bases on an academic drawing but it is more lite. There are also many tutorials of that kind but if my style of explanation will help you more, that would be cool.

I thought that I must write the tutorial that would begin with basic knowledge and end with drawing the head.

I plan the set of 3 lessons about the dimension -this is the first one. The very basics. All that would be helpful to you in drawing the head to make it dimensional, and shadows not looking like just dirty black stains.

The second lesson would be – drawing the sphere in Photoshop on basis of the first lesson. And consolidating the material.

The third lesson – drawing the head. The basic rules.

So let us start!

Thanks! It'll be helpful to send them home with a nicely done sheet to reference what they are learning about volumes and shading. Much appreciated!
