Description
Another update, this one a bit bigger...Added numerous access panels:
- GPU connection (upper right panel aft of the intake)
- O2 system panel (upper left panel aft of intake)
- Side weapons bay controls and maintenance panels for the chin sensor pods are in the two lower panels aft of the intake on each side
- IFR slipway door on the back of the aircraft aft of the cockpit
- Gun servicing and reloading panel aft of gun bulges
Other things added are bulges for the twin GAU-22 Equalizer 25mm Gatling guns, twin chin mounted sensor pods, and bulges for the flaperon and V-Tail actuators, and external stores.
Some basic specs, sorry too lazy for metric this time lol...
Length: 63 ft
Height: 12 ft (excluding landing gear)
Wing Span: 47 ft
Empty Weight: 22,000 lbs
MTOW: 52,000 lbs
55,000 lbf thrust class variable bypass turbofan
16,000 lb internal fuel
14,000 lb weapons payload (Internal + External)
Mach 2.4 @ 30,000 ft
Also I guess this is more of a mid-sized fighter than a light fighter now, but oh well

Thanks!
Took plenty of practice to get as good as I am now, and even still I fell that I'm no where near as good as I could be.

I can provide advice though...

Lol anything would help. I'm just having a hard time coming up with things. Plus I'm having an even harder time getting my art stuff and the rest of my stuff from my horrible family's house. At least I changed my AVATAR from WESKER to RAIDEN lol.

Ah, well coming up with ideas can be difficult, even for me. Often the idea might look good in my head, but on paper or in 3d it doesn't work lol

Yeah it is. Hence why I love to join groups on here. Specific groups with a specific art they dpo (i.e. one may do airplanes, the other may do cyborgs). With doing it that way it will help keep me organized. So if one day I want to draw airplanes, but I need inspiration, input, or help; I can just go to that group. However some are not as nice as others lol. Maybe thats something we can work on? Create a master group for different art styles (i.e. photo, 3-D, drawing, ect.). And then we could create proxy groups within each main group, or sub-group. I know I'm probably not making any sense. Hmm...maybe this will help (it's similar to what we would do to map out lines of computer-code algorythms before we would type them in) {Main Group===> Drawing===> Pencil===>Sci-fi===>Cyborgs}. Lol or we could just find a bunch of people who we can collaberate with lol. That may work better my friend! But we defently shouold share ideads somehow. Some of your art really inspires me!

Same as the last one and probably the same as the next comment I leave... WOW. I don't think I've looked at any of your 3D cars yet because I know if I do, it'll take me well over an hour if they're anywhere near the quality of your aircraft work! Keep up the amazing work!

Not really. With large leading edge extensions, the large control surfaces, and the 2D thrust vectoring nozzle, it still should be able to maneuver at least as good as an F-22, if not better due to higher thrust to weight and less weight to begin with. That and actuators for canards would be in the way of the guns lol

It has two guns because I designed this aircraft int he spirit of "The Last Gunfighter", the F-8 Crusader. Two GAU-12 25mm cannons with 250 rounds per gun. Anyway I have a thing for dual guns on fighters <__<

Yes, I know the F-8 had 4 Colt revolver type auto-cannons. I had meant my F-XX had dual 25mm CAU-12's.

It also should be much easier to build and design than the big, heavy delta wing on the X-32
And thanks.

I dunno why no one does nose intakes anymore. I always thought they were pretty cool myself. Then again, one of my favorite fighters is the F-8 Crusader so.... lol

External stores are only used when stealth isn't required. Dropping the external stores and pylons in flight like the F-22 returns the aircraft to a stealthy configuration.

Wow, Nice work on this bird. Definitley a 5.5 Gen Stealth Bird. You need to work on Stealth Pylons for Weapons Pods and Fuel Pods.

The only stealthy external stores this will get are a couple missile bays close to the fuselage. External stores are mostly use for ANG flights over the continental US, where stealth isn't needed.

I think this one could be a 5.5th or 5++ generation fighter...maybe even 6th?
Although I think 6th would be even more "audacious" in some specifications, details, technology, etc.
A GREAT design, nonetheless

Well, I classify my F-58 Hammer as a 6.5 gen fighter. This is probably more like a 5.5 gen at best.
Anyway thanks

That thing is awfully light to be so big; the Raptor's empty weight is over 40,000 pounds and it is 62 feet long.

Not neceseraly, for instance PAK-FA is bigger than Raptor, and yet lighter.

i may be wrong if i would say yes, it is only a estimation... if you dont accept this example, i can give another one with the same conclusion which is F-15, while having the same size as F-22, F-15 is about 7000kg lighter, YF-23 is ~5900kg lighter btw YF-23 is also bigger than PAK-FA and yet lighter...

Kryptid In reply to diasmon [2011-12-03 23:43:52 +0000 UTC]
I have contemplated the weight difference between the F-15 and the F-22 for some time now, actually. I think that the F-22 is heavier than the F-15 for many reasons: larger wings, larger tails, internal weapons bays, thrust-vectoring, reinforcement for withstanding 9 positive Gs, RAM coatings, etc.
As far as the YF-23 goes, I imagine that since it was not a production aircraft, it was lighter than the final product would have been (since it probably didn't have all of the "stuff" in it that a production aircraft would have).
Probably not the best to spam someone's deviation with debate, though.

diasmon In reply to diasmon [2011-12-03 19:34:05 +0000 UTC]
a little remark, i would agree that YF-23 may be so light due to the lack of all equipment that should make him a full-capable fighter as it was meant to be...

Venom800TT In reply to Kryptid [2011-12-03 01:21:59 +0000 UTC]
It really isn't all that big. The light weight composite tail adds a good 8 ft to its length alone (aft of the engine exhausts). Also this plane is a significant amount narrower than an F-22 in terms of fuselage width. It also is even more composite extensive than the F-22 or F-35, not to mention using more modern construction practices (F-22 and F-35 are fairly conventional in construction). The weight really isn't unrealistic, given a 70 ft long F-106 Delta Dart was only 24,000 lbs and that was just aluminum.
