Will scrap this in a few.This is the title page to the 2nd chapter of Without Void. Felt like posting it cos I actually still like it. Sorry I didn't clean it up though, so it has the scanner line down the middle.
One day I'll color it and stuff and it'll be done and won't have a blob going across the center of the page.
Chapter 2 introduces Lauren!
And dudes, thanks SO Much for all your support on Chapter one. I've been reading your guys' comments all day and it's really made me think about it and helps me view the comic in a whole new light. I've been looking at it for almost a year now and it's like WOW, it's nice to see it through a fresh pair of eyes. So thank you! You guys have been really supportive and I'm glad so many of you really seem to enjoy it so far.
I'm glad Carol is liked. The whole point of chapter one (besides some initial set up) was to explore Carol's character. Seems like it worked at least decently enough.
To explain this drawing a bit, for those of you who didn't already know, Lauren has to commit suicide every night. Usually he shoots himself, but there's other options, thus the many types of weapons in the drawing above. He shot himself originally, so I guess he has a phantom gun that he keeps with himself.
Anyways, he 'resets' every day so he can do it again. FUN TIMES.

Huzzah, my existance is saved! I really enjoyed this first chapter, and would buy this series in a second were it published.
Reasons I liked it:
- The humor was cutting edge. (I truly laughed out and now am baned from the library computers.)
- The art style is stunning and unique.
- Regardless of the deadly devils and spooky visions, I would give anything to be even the smallest character in this series. (Which I regard as being a good sign of literary skillz, yo.)
- The layout of each panal was clear and precise, makeing even the action scenes easy to follow.
- Um... And I just really liked it. *nods wisely*
The only thing I had trouble with was understanding exactly what was going on when Carol had his first vision after the royal ass kicking, demon style. I couldn't figure out where it image was appearing in the scene, from Carol's POV. Ugh, is this making any sense? Because it doesn't seem like it would to a sane person... Um, to sum up this confuzing paragraph, I was confuzed.
Haha, sorry for such a long responce, but I hope take this series all the way!!! Because people like me will buy it for serious moneys. I swear.

This is probably the weirdest thing to single out but I love the little frayed end of the noose that's sticking out. It looks all stylized and perspective-y! Aw man, and the little stylistic splattery bits on the gun. This looks really freaking slick and I love the composition.

It kinda reminds me of that old joke:
"The story is that a highly pessimistic individual had determined to take his life, and wanted to make sure that there would be none of the slip-ups he had read about. He decided that hanging would be an efficient means of self-destruction, and selected a tree with a stout branch overhanging a cliff, the sea being fifty feet below. This, he thought, would make a fitting and spectacular finish. In order to prevent any pain in the hanging process he procured for himself a large dose of opium. Although these arrangements seemed fairly complete, he decided that in order to make certain of a successful result it would be a good idea to shoot himself as well. The noose adjusted, the poison taken, and the revolver cocked, he stepped over the cliff, and as he did so fired. The jerk of the rope altered his aim, and the bullet missed his head but cut partly through the rope. This broke with the jerk of the body, and he fell fifty feet into the sea below. There he swallowed a quantity of salt water, vomited the poison, and swam ashore a better and wiser man."
Though I like the ending where he dies of pneumonia. ::laughs::

This is hilarious and awesome. I took a look at Chapter 1 earlier today, and I enjoyed it. I'll try and leave you some actual con crit on it at some point, not that you probably don't have enough.
It's nice to see someone going through the whole comic making process...my book has a long way to come before it gets pretty pictures, but in the mean time I think I'll sponge off all the things you learn along the way.
