It never hurts to keep a tutorial on blood handy!
BTW: did you know that some tribes in Africa drink cows blood during long droughts/dry season? because blood is basically 'liquid meat', its got all the good stuff you need to keep you going, and it's especially good to consume if you've not eaten solids in a long time, because it's easy and quick to digest, so your stomach doesn't have to expand additional fluids to process the proteins. Marvelous!

Very interesting! Thanks for that input, I always wondered whether there were cultures that utilized blood for sustenance. Hope you like the tutorial!

It's well put together. & I'm sure it'll come in handy somewhere in the future, blood doesn't behave the same way as water so having a reference is always good to have on hand.
Oh yeah, there are many cultures that utilize blood for both ceremonial and survival purposes; the most well renowned is the Masai tribe in Kenya & northern Tanzania. They drink cows blood on a regular basis, using it most for the sick or injured.
Technically speaking , blood was the world's first energy drink

Hey nice article, but I wanted to add something. One time my brachial artery in the lower upper arm got nicked and the blood was like a fountain literally popping up about 6 inches high and got my bathrobe stained with it. It scared me half to death of course, heart beating probably at least 160bpm. Just wanted to add that.

OH absolutely - that has to do with fluid dynamics. I should've added that - the smaller the hole in the artery, the more the velocity of the exiting blood, and the further it will shoot out.

Thanks! This will really help when drawing scenes from my story!
Quick question, will a gun shot to an artery react the same? Or would it be different, and how?

Ooh. Gunshots.
Yes, gunshot wounds would react the same! Unless you're talking about the blood flare that occurs when the bullet actually tears through flesh (that's different) -
I did a bit of experimenting with gunshots: check out the first chapter of my comic TTX, there's a bunch of gunshot effects.

No. I can see how that would work.
Okay thanks! 'Cause I get the feeling a bunch of my characters are going to get hit in the arm.
Thanks for your time!
