8 Facts about Codex

1:- The one thing Codex never feels very enthusiastic about fighting is anything sporting any kind of tentacle. This is mainly due to her teenaged female status. In addition to being a huge comic book nerd, Codex is a manga and anime fan as well, and knows what happens when teenaged girls go up against things with tentacles.

2:- Codex's real name is Gwyneth Stone. She goes by Gwen, and is a little peeved about the fact that she has no middle name. She was born and raised in Queens, NY, and still lives there with her parents and older brother.

3:- Codex is actually the 42nd person to wield the Book, the source of her arcane abilities. While she's certainly nothing special when compared to most of the previous Keepers, she is determined to be the one to figure out how to cast spells without having to speak them, something none have been able to do since the early 4th century.

4:- Through her still relatively short career, Codex has worked with valkyries, gremlins, werewolves, djinn, immortals, wisps, zombies, sphinx, and leprechauns to name a few. She's also had a variety of mentors, most notably a bitter dragon named Norick who has been trapped in the body of an iguana for the past 937 years.

5:- She's actually a damn good swing dancer, having taken lessons since she was four, and danced competitively since nice. She's not as involved with it as she used to be, now only dancing for fun when she has the time.

6:- Gwen is a bit more open about her powers than most would be, and probably more open than she should be. Her four closest friends know about her spontaneous magical abilities, and actual tried to use their combined comic book knowledge to help her train. Codex also still has the tendency to slip up and introduce herself using her real name while out and about doing the hero thing.

7:- Codex is a massive nerd; a fan of comics, manga, anime, cartoons, movies, music and video games. She also spends every weekend LARPing with friends in the middle of Central Park. She's a bit of a tomboy as well, her entire small circle of friends consisting solely of dudes. She's seen as one of the guys, which only ever bothers her when she develops feelings for one of them.

8:- Gwen's a huge fan of chinese and japanese food, yet whenever she goes out for dinner with friends, they end up at some 24-hour Vietnamese pho noodle house, despite the fact that she's come down with food poisoning from the stuff three times. If you present her with chicken teriyaki don and root beer, you've likely won her love forever.
