Mild spoilers for the comic BTW.. . .
Hailing from a planet with an intense gravity, massive size, and rumored anomalous properties, the Viltrumites were a race of hyper-powerful humanoids. The average Viltrumite could fly (fast enough to break the sound barrier), punch (hard enough to turn boulders to dust), and endure (their limit; the surface of fucking stars) through any intense environment, so you can figure out what would happen when they decided to kill off every "weak" member of their race. Over the course of one thousand years, they nearly conquered the universe, but a deadly virus plus a civil war caused by Emperor-Lord Argall's assassination stunted this growth. The Empire is weak now, and with the arrival of the traitor Nolan and his son Mark (known on Earth as Omni-Man and Invincible respectively), it seems that the greatest war in the universe is about to arrive.
